Yes, you'll need to call QF to add a flight. Be aware you won't be able to transit <24 hours in Doha, you need to book SYD to CDG in one go to be able to do that. Some strange way QR release their awards seats.

Something I have not been able to find - a website that gives a list of direct OneWorld flights to/from a specific airport?
Thank you all so much for your combined wisdoms - I now have a trial subs to expertflyer and rejoined AFF (the adverts were giving the xx_s) and I'm now studying ++
- return flights should open for me from IST to Aus in about 3 weeks🙂

So you are saying I will have to overnight in Qatar?

Can you explain what you mean by this?

Question: if I have a fly MH from ADL to KUL in J, and then book a connecting flight on QR from KUL to DOH in Y, will I get lounge access in KUL?

And would they check my bags through all the way or would I have to collect in KUL? Would also then be going DOH to LHR in J afterwards if that changes anything too.

Unfortunately not, as KUL-DOH is more than 5 hours in duration. The connecting flights rule is as follows:

First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).

The Golden Lounge offers paid access (approx $100) only for Malaysia Airlines passengers, so that's not an option either on a QR departure.

I'd be looking at the Plaza Premium First lounge (approx $40) which looks roughly on par with the Golden Lounge. There are also a few airport hotel options - Sama Sama Express is airside, Tune, Sama Sama and Aerotel are landside. Most (possibly all) offer day use rates.

Having a nightmare situation with Qantas failing to reticket after an involuntary flight change on my booking. Had multiple flights drop off and trying to save my itinerary whichever way I can.
Oneworld advised that CX had rejected our request for reinstatement and they were our flights out from SYD to start the redemption.

Have requested for Qantas to force open 2x rewards seats for Syd to DFW and they said they have emailed the relevant department and to wait 24-48hrs for a response. In the mean time I need some assistance with how to proceed.

My booking has 3 legs with partner airlines that are waiting for reinstatement so still showing on MMB. the QF flight is showing and appears different to the other ones as it shows its class as U whilst the ones were waiting for are in D (1 has already been rejected and 2x QR are likely to be rejected).

If I was to call and try see if the attached image indicates that its confirmed, to then try and get it ticketed.
1. Would this work or is it not a confirmed opening yet?
2. If they did reticket me for it, how would they do this with 3 flights on the booking appearing in D class? Would they ask us to pay for them or would they have to remove them to ticket us?

Yes, I tried to do it BC (before covid) and was told you can't add a transit flight to a SYD-DOH booking, the next segment will have to be >24 hours after arrival in DOH. I think it's worth a call to QF and trying but be prepared to have to stay in DOH 1 day.

Yeah, I came to a similar conclusion when booking my OWA for the end of this year. Basically Doha doesn't want to be your transit, they want you to stop there. The term QF HBA call centre told me was 'through fares', which I think are also referred to as divorced segments (so the opposite of married segments).

This was for business class reward seats FWIW, not sure if economy is the same.

I'm currently working on planning for a trip to Singapore and Japan later this year. Requirements are to be in Singapore 30th September to 3rd October, and Japan 7th October to 10th October. The rest is fairly flexible.

To start off, the original plan was to fly direct to Singapore, but there are no direct flights from Sydney available in the week or so before. There is a BA Y+ direct, but would like to travel in J as much as possible.

So in true OWA fashion, looks like I'll be adding in a stopover. I can get SYD-KUL in J on 25th Sept, so thought I may spend a few days checking out Malaysia for the first time. I'll then add in a KUL-SIN in J on MH, probably on 29th Sept.

On 3rd Oct, I'm able to get JL36 from SIN-HND in J, which I believe should be their Sky Suites product.

Then coming home, the best I am able to find is JL51 from HND-SYD in Y+ on 14th Oct.

A few questions:
  1. Any better ideas on how to get home in J? I can fly back anytime between the 10th and 15th of October.
  2. When I do a multi-city booking online, the points are capping out at 209k. Any recommendations on how I can better take advantage of the benefits of a OWA? Should I consider doing SYD-ADL-KUL? I am PCP+, so will receive status credits for the booking and am happy to not fly direct (within reason).

I think the purpose of having separate availability for transit and point to point passengers is so that Doha residents have reasonable access to award seats, otherwise transit passengers will be taking all the seats.

Maybe something like this? Narrowbody back to Sydney but you'd get some SC at least :) Lounges at DPS are rubbish, would recommend the Novotel at the Airport or Hilton Garden Inn not too far away - both do (or at least did pre-covid) day rates.

Interesting idea - probably a little bit more airtime than I would like, but the SCs are tempting...

I had a bit of a hunt but couldn't see any other viable options in J unless you would consider CX. (probably wouldn't recommend)

There wasn't any other availability to Australia from the major cities with JL & QF connect at - SIN, BKK, CGK, DEL, etc

ICN could have been a good option but Qantas doesn't start flying there until December.

Worth noting in case it throws people off track that it is quite possible to transit DOH from non-Australian ports eg SIN/BKK etc

I have read the writing on the wall and decided my week in Jaffna in September is really not sensible. I changed my KUL-CMB-LHR in MH/UL for the only viable option I could find: KUL-DEL-LHR in MH/BA with a couple of days' difference. I will do a revenue side trip to IXL and I have an existing revenue side trip LCY-BHD. So this is my new route:

My question is how quickly I need the MH and BA sectors ticketed to avoid them being lost. Grateful for advice.
