O.P. marker suggestion

I'd like to see an O.P. marker to tell me who the Original Poster is.

In some threads (usually the complaint/rant ones), it's easy after a few pages to forget who the original poster is when revisiting the page. Yes I it's at the top of the page but when you revisit the thread you may end up halfway down the page and it's a nuisance to have to scroll back to the top of the page.

Whirlpool does this with a small pale grey font "O.P" beside the OP's name.

We would need to look at an add-on to accomplish this, and test it before it went live. Testing of new add-ons is not slated for a month or two as we are currently still bedding down the new site. That said, I thank you for your suggestion, and we have come across add-ons that would suit this role in the past.

An additional point to note is that features that come from add-ons risk being lost in the future if their development is not actively updated as the core software changes. Case in point, we lost a whole heap of Post Ratings, but a new system that is native took over called Reactions. The last thing we want to do is introduce a feature that is relied heavily upon, only for it to be removed a year or two down the line because it has not been properly maintained by its developer.
