Has anyone had any experience with gaining entry for children who are family but are not your dependents into QF lounges? I ask because I will be flying out of CBR next week with my Dad, Step-mother and 17yr old step-brother. I know my newly minted WP status would allow me to guest my Dad and Stepmum into the J lounge and that QF are generally very good about allowing kids in under their family policy but I don't know if this extends past your own children? The QF website just talks about family and he is family just not my dependent so I was wondering if anyone has any experience of what the definition of family extends too? If it makes any difference Dad, Stepmum and I have the same surname but step-brother does not. I suppose I could claim him as my son but there is only just enough of an age difference between us for this to be believable (I would have had to have had him in high school)

You should be find, though 17 is the limit so if he looks older you might be initially declined until you prove his age ;)

I've done it once with no problems and at CBR as well. :)

Hope your travel time isn't at a busy time because as you would know this lounge can get quite full. Otherwise a respectful request is usually met with a positive response.

How would they know he is not your dependent? Sometimes just being together is enough to let the lounge angel get the impression that you're all family (which you are).

Breezed right in at OOL a couple of weeks ago with four kids in tow - one wasn't mine, and he was travelling on a separate flight.

Shouldn't be a problem.

depends on the lounge angel and also if the lounge is full or not.

IMHO I would give it a go.

I find CBR is pretty good particularly if not in a busy time. We've often turned up with 5 of us and the 3 kids well over 17 - we actually have more than enough right to go in (3 WPs atm), but the usual reaction is oh a family - welcome, before they even check boarding passes.
