Hi, I can't see VA29 SYD-AUH during Feb-Mar 2015, either on the VA website or on EF. Are they taking this route offline to do the new biz seat fitout, or is something else going on? Sorry if I missed this elsewhere.

I believe that EY are covering the route while VA rotates their 77W's through maintenance.

Is this route profitable for VA or is it for appearances, like trying to make out that they have an international long haul presence/ambition?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Its very profitable, given they use the aircraft weekly to be a wet lease for EY, and EY can easily step in when an aircraft is in for a major, unlike the US routes.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just checked our reward booking for March 26 and our row 5 VA29 experience won't happen. Instead, we have been rebooked on EY451, which suits us fine although I would have loved to try VA J.

IMHO I think EY J would be better than VA J, especially that the new seats wont be available by then

Sometime but not always. Personally at 6'3" I have found that I fit better in the VA J seats in Bed mode (for both the old green and new brown EY seats)

I would agree with that, the EY seats are a little hard on the wider folk as well.
