I fly on Jetstar and my friend tell me to join Qantas to earn points, but I get no points why

Hi and welcome to AFFF. With Jet* flights you need to pay extra at the time of booking to get points and status credits.

ok I thought points were free. I check out next booking I makenext time. how much extra must pay maybe not worth it thank you Hvr

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You must purchase a Plus or Max bundle additional to a starter fare in order to earn QFF points and status credits.

FWIW, this is quite unique to Jetstar and low-cost airlines more generally. On most airlines (e.g. Qantas and Virgin Australia) points and status credits are included in the fare.

It's more unique that an LCC earns any points full stop.

But like any airline you need to ensure the fare class you are purchasing earns points

The extra you pay includes points, 20kg checked luggage, free changes and free seat selection. If you were going to pay for these anyway it is certainly worth considering. Also includes a $5 voucher for use inflight (domestically) or a meal (internationally plus most Jetstar Asia flights)

Mind you if you're going to pay for this bundle you should factor the cost into the total fare for cost comparison purposes before you book.
I often find it's no cheaper than flying QF or VA after I add in the cost of all the extras I want on JQ.

When you buy the bundle and earn status credits, does the flight also count as one of the Qantas "4" minimum flights you need to complete during your membership year?

Not just a QF segment, but the SCs earned also count toward life time status and the loyalty bonus if that's of interest.

To be clear Status Credits earned on eligible Qantas, oneworld, Jetstar and Fiji Airways flights all contribute to Lifetime Status. The Loyalty Bonus is more restrictive in that the Status Credits earned must be from eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights (JQ, 3K, GK and BL).

Quick question - how long does it take to have the points and status credits added to your QFFF account?
I'm starting to wonder if i need to claim missing points as it was 5 days ago whilst QF sectors are same day or next at the latest.

Can take up to ten days in my experience

As a data point, I've been waiting 29 days for my JQ points and SCs to credit. I put in a missing points claim on day 15 but I am still waiting.
