Hi everyone. First post here but you don't have to go easy on me!recently obtained a silver status on my velocity account and wondering what are the perks of being silver. I have a few questions in regarding to my up coming trip to Europe with Etihad airway. According to velocity website under "TRAVEL BENEFITS: International Airline Partners":- being a silver member mean you will get extra one additional check in back up to 23KG on economy. Does this mean that I am allow to have 2 x check in luggage of 23KG each (i get 23kg with my current ticket).- Priority Boarding : this mean that I am allow to cue up with the priority line when boarding? Me and my partner is travelling together, Will she be able to use priority boarding with me provide that Im the only one with velocity silver status and she is not?Thank you in advance

Hi Jet LThank you for your response. Another question that popped into my head just now. After the outbound flight, I will most likely reach Velocity Gold. Just wondering about the lounge access. Will i be able to access Etihad lounge in Sydney, Abu Dhabi and Athens? Can I bring my partner into the lounge aswell?Thank you again

Yep :) your gold status will allow you + one guest into the lounge (assuming the SC's post and the review happens in time)

Sorry I didn't respond I was boarding a flight when I responded on my phone

It appears to be taking around a week for EY flights to credit to your account (thats if they credit at all and you do not have to do a retro claim) .. so your GOLD status might not be showing till after your travels. Also you might have a issue as you do not have your card to show the lounge staff

Hello
I'm just a newbie and would love to buy some AA or Alaska miles but am terrified of getting penalised by one of the airlines I fly with - specially after reading this today:[h=3]Welcome to Flat Beds. Real Fares, Real Service.[/h] At Flat Beds we specialise in getting you the best value business class airfares to Europe, North America and the Rest of the World. We sell real airfares, unlike US firms on-selling business class award seats against the terms and conditions of frequent flyer programs which can result in you being left high and dry. Our team of agents are experts at complex airfare ticketing and finding the best value flights, working with our parent company RoundAbout Travel as Australia’s leading round the world airfare specialist. As part of the RoundAbout Travel group, Flat Beds is AFTA/ATAS accredited and as part of the Independent Travel Group has ‘Book Safe’ insurance, so that your funds are fully insured and protected.

Would anyone have any experience with this stuff that I could be re-assured and go ahead to purchase some air miles to book a First Class airfare maybe SYD/AUH with Etihad? Does any-one know of penalties being applied by Qantas, Virgin or any other airline? Thank you all in advance and apologies if this is a dopey question or posted in the wrong place. I'm really struggling with finding my round this forum.

Theyre referring to points brokers, not buying points from the airline themselves.

Buy AA or Alaska miles during their promos, you've got nothing to worry about. The hardest part is finding availablity to suit your plans.

From doing a few dummy bookings across those 'deals' they look legit - I mean they appear to be a travel agent who deal in Business airfares, the prices aren't much different to booking direct with the airlines.

As deva22 said - they are referring to websites that buy up Frequent Flyer points or miles and then book you on flights using them, which is against the T&C's of the programs and can result in the bookings being cancelled with little to no warning, and then of course you would need to chase them up for a refund which likely would not arrive.

Like they say if it looks too good to be true then it probably is. But Flatbeds seems legit if that's something you wanted to explore :)
