While on the subject of new and exciting.... and something that we thought might interest a lot of you .... Here is a shot of the new direct kerb-side entry into the Sydney Lounge at T2 taking shape!

T2 lounge entry construction med res.jpg

More info to come!!

Will this be available for casual entries or only for Lounge members?

Looking forward to trying it, whats the scheduled opening date?

I was speaking to one of the lounge angels on Friday and she said that there will also be valet parking, but only for Gold members. She also seemed to imply that access may only be for Gold members and that they were worried this would piss some people off (she said it in a much nicer way of course :))

She had no idea when it would be finished and seemed to think things were dragging out a bit, no surprise when it comes to construction!

Free valet parking for DJ Gold members?! That'd really put a dent in the QFF corporate accounts!

Compared to the earn some 2100SCs and get 4 free valet parking tickets? Thats one big dent!

No, I think you'll have to pay something but it and the access will only be for Gold members.

ETA: I'm flying out again tomorrow so will enquire further.

I think that this is a great innovation for air travel in Australia. While seemingly at this point not looking quite the class act that VS has at T3 LHR, it still is to be commended.

It was suggested some time ago in this forum:

yes, we've leased the old Ansett Golden Wing upstairs. Can't recall whether we are able to get direct kerbside access - have to work out where members will pass through security.
cheers

Thanks crazydave98 for acting on this!

In fact we should thank Petch for giving the first draft concept picture of the proposal:sydney-airport-TheLounge-kerbside.jpg

Now, please get to work on doing something similar in Melbourne - or at least some sort of priority check-in & security for Lounge members/Silver/Gold!!

It's 2400 SCs for that benefit and it's only Qantas Drive - not valet parking (i.e. Qantas Drive means you will be chauffered; valet parking means you drive your own vehicle and get a "comfy" parking spot). Although yes - with QF you would only be able to access that benefit 3 times.

Would be really nice of DJ if they offered this benefit for free! Failing that, even free vouchers would shake up QF. For example, NZ give their Golds 2 vouchers and their Gold Elites 5 vouchers for free one day parking at Koru Valet at AKL, CHC and WLG airports.

Ahh, was more poking a stick at Qantas. I read the benefits somewhere just couldn't quite remember then off the top of my head! All this travel on DJ is making me forget my QF ways.
