Hi there, I'm Mike and new to the Forum.
My family and I flew to Europe from Sydney in Nov 2013 returning in mid January 2014. We Booked on a Swiss Air Ticket with the Syd to Hong Kong and return legs Code Shared with Cathay Pacific. For the Syd to Hong Kong and return legs we used our Qantas Freq Flyer Membership Numbers as advised and are still waiting for their reply re points accrued as they indicated approximately 28 days for a response. For the HK to Zurich, Zurich to Milan etc legs and the returns we used our Kris Flyer Membership Numbers. The Ticket Booking Class was Y and we had been advised that this would accrue points but potentially at a reduced rate. SIA/Kris Flyer have now replied saying that no miles could be accrued as the Booking Class was not eligible for Points Accrual. Can anyone shed any light on this for us?
Thanks :)

Hi Mike, welcome to AFF.

Can you just confirm the actual booking class on LX was Y? If it was actually Y you should have received 100% miles.

Welcome to the forum

My understanding is that with codeshares
Star Alliance: the operating carrier determines earnings, if an eligible flight
One World: the marketing carrier determines earnings, if an eligible flight

SYD-HKG Swiss Air flight number (marketed) on Cathy aircraft (operated)?
HKG-SYD Swiss Air flight number (marketed) on Cathy aircraft (operated)?
You will not get QF points for these flights if it was a Swiss Air flight number. Swiss is not a QF partner. If it was CX Cathy flight number only some fares earn QF points. Many discount fares do not

HKG to Zurich, Zurich to Milan was a ? fares class Swiss Air flight number? (marketed) on ?? aircraft (operated)
It is very unlikely it would a Y fare class. Hardly anyone buys fares class Y: Discounted business would be cheaper. Economy flight (generic Y) has many sub fare class’s. Y fares earn 100% on most(all?) freq flyers programs. You comment “reduced rate” means it was a discount economy. Lufthansa group is know to be stingy with miles on deep discount tickets

If you look at the Singapore SQ freq flyer web site for the partner airlines it will list which fares earn SQ miles.

Sorry to say, but you may get nil QF points and nil SQ miles for this trip
For the next trip ask when you book the ticket: advise will be freely given

Okay,
Using my wife's, my daughter's and my Boarding Passes and leaving the Cathay Pacific Code Share flights CX 100 Sydney to Hong Kong and the CX 111 returns to one side for the moment as those flights are still with Qantas we have
1. Hong Kong to Zurich and the returns for my wife and I
Swiss Boarding Passes Economy Flight LX 139 (going) and LX 138 (returning) Class Y
for my daughter flying out of Hong Kong 2 weeks after us
Cathay Pacific Boarding Pass Flight LX 139 No Class Shown but her return was with us and is
Swiss Boarding Pass Economy Flight LX 138 Class Y
2. Zurich to Milan for my wife and I
Cathay Pacific Boarding Passes but Swiss Flight No LX 1612 Class Y
3. Zurich to Budapest for my daughter
Cathay Pacific Boarding Pass but Swiss Flight LX 2250 No Class Shown
4. Geneva to Zurich for my wife, my daughter and I
Swiss Boarding Passes Economy Flight LX 2819 Class Y
I hope this all makes sense to you and I appreciate your thoughts on it all.

Class Y on the boarding pass is not the fare/booking class: just an economy flight
The airline logo of who prints the boarding pass has no meaning or influence on miles earning: Flight number and airline who operates the flight are important
Was HKG - ZUR on a Cathay Pacific aircaft ? . As CX (operator) is not a star alliance member or a SQ partner it will probably be not an eligible flight --> nil SQ miles

On the e-ticket or invoice does it have a "booking class" , like my recent Air NZ flight. Or elswhere the fare basis? The fare/booking class letter is often the first letter of booking/fare basis/class. Not the 6 character PNR booking reference

The Aircraft from HK to Zurich and also on the return Zurich to HK were Swiss Air not Cathay.
All I can find on the Best Flights eTicket/Itinerary/Receipt is the Airline Booking Reference which is Y9FZBU
Just found this as well:
Syd to Hong Kong Cathay Pacific Economy (S) Return is the same
Hong Kong to Zurich Swiss Intnl Economy (K) Return is the same
Zurich to Milan Swiss Intnl Economy (K)
Geneva to Zurich Swiss Intnl Economy Economy (K)

Does this help?

Yes. The ( ) is the booking fare class which determines freq flyer miles
As above look at SQ freq flyer web site for partner Swiss Air
What was the flight numbers for the SYD Cathay flights?

Edit:
QF earning // booking class. If the letter is not listed nil earning
Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions
I think you flights were not codeshare (an airlines flight number when sold on another airlines aircraft) but normal flights packaged up by BestFlights

Go to singapore airlines earn miles with airline partners and look for the codes:

Paste this link in and go to the PDF on the right side = look for the airline and code (Swiss code K is not on the earning table sorry to say)

These two are right. Fare class (K) on Swiss does not earn to Krisflyer, and (S) on Cathay does not earn to QFF.

I'm sorry to say whoever told you that you would earn miles for these flights was incorrect.

Hi I am also new to SQ and Krisflyer.

With QF's latest announcement to cut the PER-SIN route, I won't be flying them anymore internationally.

Just looking at the SQ krisflyer conditions to qualify for PPS, and using the below route as an example... I wouldn't actually book a First fare!

A first fare from SIN-LHR is SGD13,895. The fare is 12,800 plus tax and surcharges. Does that mean after 2 bookings from SIN-LHR, I will earn PPS? PPS requires $25,000 SGD spend in Business/First.

Also First earns 150% of miles and Business earns 125% of miles. That would mean flying SIN-LHR earns 10,142 in First. So after 2 returns flights SIN-LHR, I would have around 40,000 miles. That's not enough to earn Krisflyer gold (50,000 miles). But that would be enough to earn PPS through the $$$ spent. How does that work???

How does PPS compare to QF WP status in terms of lounge quality and treatment in the air?

I get the impression that PPS is designed to reward SQ's loyal premium passengers. While it is possible to be Krisflyer Gold without flying SQ, you must fly F or J on SQ to earn PPS.
