Flying PER-MEL on Saturday, I see I can guest my partner and 2 children into Qantas Club, what about our third child? Do I just ask nicely? Or will they not allow her. Kids are all under 9.

Is the MEL QP still under construction and restricting guests? Flight departs at 1305 a couple of days after Christmas.

Many thanks.

Many years ago, I've been in that situation. I am unsure if things have changed as it was a while ago. There was 4 kids and the staff member at the lounge said "normally we wouldn't allow it but your flight is delayed with no estimate time we will allow it on this occasion". It might just depend on the staff. I'm sure it would be fine but in regards to their guesting policy, they may say no.

Frequently travel with my wife and 4 kids ranging from 14 to 9yo, have never been denied entry to a QF lounge. Am WP now but this was still the case as paid QP a few years ago.

It can be handy to have some paper lounge invitations just in case, but QF's is transitioning/has transitioned to electronic passes now.

If QF is enforcing the no guests for QP when you travel from MEL during the lounge refurbishment then you wouldn't be able to take in any guests at all there.

Also to note for others that may come across your thread.

Children aged 3 years and under don't count towards the 2 children (4-17yrs) permitted in addition to guest allowance rules, as per item 35 here.

35. Children aged 3 years and under are permitted into the lounge subject to capacity.

QFd at MEL T1 sometimes, I just have to show my QF SG card and they don't even want to scan it!
Just waved through!
Haven't heard any news, but the bigness of the refresh would probably see the QP (that is what we call it on here), still in reno mode.
Usually, when renovations (or refreshes) are complete, there is a great fanfare and you will know about it.
Its a nice place for a lounge though, good gate and taxi and runway views.
If you do get the 330 in both directions, there will be a fight for a window seat for the kids, thats for sure.
See if you can get something about halfway down the back, so your kids views don't get blocked by the wings.
Kid A takes window, and then kid B take and one parent A takes C, and then behind, kid A and parent B behind.
Yes, I have done the 330 from PER, mine was evening, about 16.30 and get to MEL about 20.00, great sunset view, not full view, but was worth the $ spent!
Not sure of your time departing from PER, but/and best of luck that you don't get an equipment swap to a 737.

I was in the MEL lounges the other day and my impression was that they've barely got started with the renovations. I didn't notice much difference, much less than what I was expecting. It'll be several months before they're finished.

Flew earlier in the year 2 adults with 4 kids under 7 (don't ask) and no issue getting into Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Update on PER-MEL, went to go to QP but it was closed and asked us to proceed to the business lounge, entered with no worries at all, nice and quiet too!
Brilliant!

Normally, the QF business lounge is better than the QP.
1000% times lucky they asked you to go to the QFd PER business lounge, usually, that one is only open to business class passengers and WP/P1/CL.
PER and BNE QFd business lounges are the newest, the latest ones to be refreshed or updated, so are very good.
The MEL one should be good once finished, the SYD one is dated, and ADL combines the QP and the business lounge, newish, quite nice, but not as wow as BNE.

It is nothing new in PER to direct you to the Business lounge if things are quiet.

Ta for that one Mannej.
Lots ot open my eyes to, only ever been to the QFd PER QP.
Been through that airport 3 times in the past few years.
They never suggested I go to/give the QFd PER business lounge a try!
