A lot of those are either copying VA or restoration of a route previously dropped.
It will be interesting to see QF link make SYD HVB work when JQ hadnt, although they have with BNE ROK which JQ also dropped.
In the case of BNE PMQ its the first time I can recall QF stepping in to compete on a new route opened up by the ATRs, it suits the ATRs more so than the Dash's.

Had HTI been completely Jetstarised before, or do QF still do BNE-HTI?

Happy about the HVB route. Though at the same time as VOZ so no massive benefit :-(

You can summarize the SYD-HTA and SYD-HVB as locals and tourists alike rejecting JQ in favour of VA, plus copying of some VA routes where VA either has no competition or only JQ as competition.

Interesting that QF link choose to fly the B717s SYD-HVB will these be the presumably single class 'sardine can' B717s without a business cabin or the two class with an empty J class cabin?

Nice to see (hear/read) or new routes added to the network, even if they're only a restoration of previously flown routes in some cases.

Would've thought MEL-OOL would be the logical next route to open but good to see some new routes nonetheless.

Not regularly scheduled flights, no.

not yet!

It is something many of us have been expecting for a while. But still waiting

I see! I had thought that when QF made all the fan fare about resuming flights to OOL (and switching the JQ lounge back to a Qantas Club), that MEL was included! I would have thought that MEL would have been one of their key markets!

Back on topic, I remember flying to HTI from SYD in mid 2000's - it was a 717 QLink service - an old Impulse jet, if I remember correctly!

Dosn't it make a nice change to hear news about Qantas that is positive for once.

Hint to AJ - fly more planes to where passengers want to go and make some $$$ along the way!

Could you explain why it suits the ATRs more than the Dash's. Not disagreeing, just interested in a "knowledge exchange" from one who knows more about these things than I do.

I have flown the PQQ-BNE route a couple of years ago when the ATR first started on that route; not sure either bird would make it to PMQ from BNE;)

If they are going to have a domestic capacity war to maintain 65%, they'd be better advised to reach the market share target by flying new routes!

Its a good question, the Dash 8 economics work on legs longer than 400nm where their 100kt cruise speed advantage comes into play, allowing for greater utilisation of the aircraft in a day. Under that, it's fuel consumption per seat km is much higher as well as having a purchase price at least $7M per body higher. On segments less than 400nm, the break even point on a Dash 8 is almost 2x the seats of an ATR.
