QF First Lounge in Singapore

I missed the LHR lounge opening by a week and didn't get back there until 11 months later.

Normally, I'd be connecting through SIN at the end of my trip, and thus would be able to use it (mid Dec). Not this year. :/

Wonder if they will tell people about it at check-in at SYD, MEL, BNE and LHR, or it will just be those in the know

I believe (which means I don't for 100% for sure) that the new lounge will be mentioned at F checkin desks and hopefully also to Platinums at say BNE, and also that staff moving through the cabin on approach to SIN to hand out arrivals cards etc will also be advising loungeworthy passengers of the new lounge. The comms has been a focus for the SIN lounge team and I'v actually suggested to them that they take a leaf out of BA's book and have an 'invitation' slip with a pretty pic of the lounge on one side and details & map on the other that's handed out to F, CL, WP and P1 pax (similar to what BA does close in to LHR for its T5 arrivals lounge). We shall soon see if that's been taken up.

I'd certainly hate to be loungeworthy and on the QF1 or QF2 transit but not know about the new SIN F lounge until I rocked up at the J lounge, and then miss precious minutes of lounging time having to make my way to the F lounge (I mean, it's not even 10 minutes walk away, but still, those are short transits and if the flight pulls up at a C gate you're facing 15-20 minutes of lost lounge time).

I'll be transiting through SIN on 2 December, so will be interesting to see if it is mentioned on board. I'd actually prefer not to be using the lounge on the opening night as I imagine it will be packed with press, etc.

The official lounge opening event is actually in the arvo. We'll still be there ahead of QF2 or other AU-bound flights but come on over, there'll be plenty of room for you, and we won't bite :)

Good to know, never heard of BA doing that before.
They certainly did not when I was flying BA F into LHR T5 earlier this year. I already knew about the arrivals lounge however.

Very likely as it's totally indoors.
I happened across the location early this month after a 6 hour rest at the transit hotel.

Tried to make out if it was going to be overlooking the concourse like the current lounge does but could see no evidence.

(As an aside I did note the old skyview lounge is now a public area.)

Is it me or is there a lack of windows in the lounge?

As I recall from early concept images and scouting out the location, a stretch of the dining area overlooked the arrivals concourse of T1, where inbound passengers hit the immigration checkpoints, and I recall the plans showing some windows there - unsure if those remained in the final layout.

Virtual windows (per EK 777 F middle suites) should be doable somewhere as tech-savvy as SIN - good talking point too!

I dunno, BA tried some 'virtual window' take at its SIN Concorde Room – just tall screens showing an iconic view of Singapore and MBS (blech), didn't change that the Concorde Room was a bit more of a cave. I don't have an issue with an indoor lounge per se – sometimes they are near unavoidable as airlines are largely at the whim of terminal design, airport operator and space available – as long as the design works for that space, be it intimate and clubby or open and plenty of light colours.

Just on the matter of windows/view, I've dug up some pics from earlier reports.

Here are two versions of the concept images for the QF F 'dining room' area: note the pane of glass, which appears frosted but with different lighting, behind some wooden slats.

This may equate to where the space which the lounge occupies, overlooks one of the T1 arrivals/immigration areas, as seen in these pics. It's been a while since I've visited this corner of T1 so I can't be 100% sure of how the lounge's floorplan sits against this.

I circumnavigated the hoarding earlier this year and don't recall any expansive outlooks.

Edit: Though my powers of observation may have been a little dulled at the time.

No view per se, unless you are really desperate and peer though these slats along the dining room...
