It’s just not on here but hearing plenty of naysayers and armchair experts writing them off before they have been started.
As you said it’s a business and if they fail they fail but no harm trying

Unfortunately the history of third "mainline" domestic airlines in Oz hasn't been a happy one.

Compass Mk I and Mk 11 for starters...

I think there is a bit of a flaw in this reliance being that Noosa tourists are predominantly $$$ loaded - QF are making a killing on their new routes up there, the MEL route was one of the most successful launches and flexes up to 4 737/717's in peak now a day - from virtually nothing only months ago. I wonder how much ultra budget customer is up there...
The flaw with the residents of Noosa is not so much their wealth - often asset rich, cash poor-but the reliability of payments.
When I was solely in Private practice and travelled to Noosa 1 out of the 5 days the worst areas for bad debts were Noosa,Noosa waters and Sunshine beach.
Unfortunately even though they will offer much more for us on the coast I doubt that we will be real LCC passengers. As well as a little hesitant with the Max.
Wish them well.

Although I guess one significant difference is that Bonza (at this point in time) have indicated they will try and avoid head-heads with existing carriers. If you look back at that unhappy history, Compass went up against Australian/Ansett, Ansett was competing with Virgin Blue and Qantas, Ozjet against Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar, Tiger against Jetstar (and some routes Qantas and Virgin), and so on. All of them talked about tapping into the money on the "golden triangle" (like Rex jet services right now). But Bonza seems to doing its utmost to avoid that strategy (wise IMHO!). Will be fascinating to see how it evolves and whether this actually makes a difference to its long term fortunes.

Yea I was referring to the $$ visitors from out of state rather than the locals and I agree with you we have similar challenges still today!

I agree, however, when they say they are not going head to head, thats not quite the case. Its more stealth. Essentially their network will bypass the "Hubs" and will target trips that currently have to travel into and out of a hub to get from A to B.

Whilst that type of segment may work in larger markets in the USA and Europe, the question/judgement is still out whether if it works downunder.

I would not be surprised if REX and Bonza (or rather Singapore businessmen/PAG consortium and 777) discusses a 'merger' in the medium term future if things doesn't go to plan for both.

Both networks would compliment each other, and also allows REX to negotiate an exit from the leases on the oldest ex-VA 737s.

Joke?

With the market they're targeting it can't be that hard to design a menu.

Plenty of alcohol, Tim Tam's and Vegemite dippers ought to do it....

In flight dog’s eyes… and a fair suck of the sauce bottle.

I think I saw an announcement that they are only serving Australian owned and made food and beverages so if that is true - sorry everyone - Tim Tams don’t pass that test!

Being Bonza - I would have thought meat pies and vegemite toast

Four and Twenty Pies are another Australian owned group of products.

Was American owned at one point but an Australian company bought them back under Australian control a long while back.
