New Cathay Singapore Lounge T4

I arrived from HKG and left SIN via the new Terminal 4 this week.

Some observations.

T4 is empty in week one of operation! CX, VN and KE seemed to use the terminal as well as some obscure budget carriers. Next week AirAsia joins. Everyone including the security staff were amazingly friendly. All the shops seem to be occupied with standard Changi shops. The TWG Tea store is amazing with Tea containers stacked around 6 meters high.

The Cathay lounge is vastly better than the previous contract lounges in T1. They have a noodle bar, and some standard snacks.

One major disappointment is the lack of a shower in the lounge. Seems odd, for people who may have spent a whole day in sweaty Singapore and no shower.

The flight was a new A350, so the overall Cathay experience was very positive.
 
Lack of shower is a major fail by CX, this is one of the only reasons I’d use the lounge. Will be checking out the PP lounge in T4 for this purpose, there also look to be plenty of food court options that will be better than the noodle bar.

Overall T4 is an improvement with high ceilings and plenty of natural light, feels fresh and new but no wow factor in the design....the overall architecture continues to feel cheap/bland/sterile as with the rest of Changi.

Priority boarding is a shambles at T4 also, flew out on Thursday and there was no attempt to police the Priority line or turn away pax at the scanner who weren’t entitled. This lead to some heated arguments from pax in the Y lane and CX staff on hand to ensure the new automated scanning gates were working. Took twice as long as in the old terminals even though X-ray scanning is now done at immigration not the gate.
 
To add my recent experience, I made it from T4 to T1 via T2 in time for a shower at the QF lounge before it closed and all the way back to T4 via T3 and T2 for my flight by which time I was ready for another shower...
