New account can you view how many points required for upgrade with zero balance?

Hi all,

So have a Flight booked.
Rang Kris flyer and they said 90K points to upgrade.
Created Kris Flyer account and has flight listed.
Zero Kris Flyer points.
Does not let you click upgrade flight to determine how many points required to book(is it 90K via phone and 76500 if done online?)???????

Trying to workout how many points to transfer via Virgin Velocity to cover the flight.

Finding ringing Kris Flyer really hard to confirm info given.

Please help
 
I have been told an economy to business class upgrade for 2 is 90K in points via Kris Flyer calling them.
Will this be 76500 if booked online?
 
Wow CE I realize my need to know things to do with SQ can be lacking as I still prefer to just go click and click and then choose which credit card to use. Thank you for your latest post on upgrades.

Ahhhhhhhhhh Family member booked with online agent which has revealed major issues!
I finally got a person that understands english and informed:
1. Due to being online agent they are only able to upgrade via phone and NO DISCOUNT 90K
2. The family member only put the first and last name and therefore ticket does not include middle name and EXACT match To KrisFlyer account......told have to change Name on ticket to match passport and KrisFlyer account before upgrade can go thru. Even though ticket shows on KrisFlyer Account. Edit: Cost will be $200+ for two people.
3. Told Virgin FF will instantaneously go across to KrisFlyer account.

Now they have family pooling account, other family member has the total points in their account.
Can you transfer the Virgin 121500 points into other family member Krisflyer account that made the booking for both of them? Edit: Singapore say yes.
Its a 35% fee right virgin to singapore?

I think your number is correct Plant.
Remember there is the possibility of doing nothing and just get all the points into one Velocity account for a future trip.
They booked it not you so relax a bit.

Took a third person to understand clearly.... Not sure of my AUSTRALIAN accent.
Singapore reservations very good understand straight away.

So if you didn't speak to SQ/KF call centre in SIN who did you speak to?

The main SIN SQ and KF call ctrs are same same - same agents handle both comm tix and rdpt bookings - if you call 02 8228 1188 you will go through to the main call ctr.

Call ctr staff work in teams - usually 4 in total at any one time - some handle comm tix - some handle rdpt inquiries - BUT - all staff crossover during shifts and basically take any calls that are queued - if queue not too long you will generally go through to agents designated at comm or rdpt on that shift.

Quite normal for all call ctr staff to take comm / rdpt / comm / rdpt inquiries b2b. SQ also have another call ctr in India but I have never spoken to them to my knowledge - ALL Australian calls divert to SIN call ctr.

SQ were also setting up a 3rd major call ctr in MNL - Crystal was earmarked to go and basically oversee all floor operations but she refused to shift to MNL - this was the main reason she left SQ - so sad.
