I am putting together some basic information for my 81 year old father so that he can travel smoothly from Australia to the US to Amsterdam back through the US back home - I have completed some research and asked my TA :oops: and have now come to this valuable website to assist me with some questions and any other tips...
2 Passengers flying Bris -> Atlanta -> Amsterdam -> Atlanta ->Bris
1 American Airlines Reservation
22 April AA7372 (QF517) BNE-> SYD
AA 7308 (QF7) SYD-DFW
Q. Arriving in Dallas, do the Passengers have to

  • Go through Immigration/Customs in Dallas? or when they arrive in their final destination in the US - Atlanta? From my research I found they go through Immigration in Dallas.
  • Pick up their baggage and recheck bags in Dallas before boarding their flight for Atlanta? My TA advised their bags are ticketed straight through to Atlanta but from what I can find they still have to pick them up from the baggage area and recheck them in??
Their flight to Atlanta is AA0232 DFW -> ATL

13 May Depart Atlanta for Amsterdam AA4377 (US Airways Express-Republic 3356) ATL -> PHL
Q. In Atlanta, do the passengers check in at Domestic Terminal North and then go to Concourse D?
Arrival In Philadelphia
Q. Do the passengers arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal A?
Q. Do they have to go through Baggage Control again or Customs/Immigration or are they in Transit?
AA0798 (US airways 798) PHL -> AMS

24 June AA6443 British Airways BA431 AMS-> LHR
AA079 LHR -> DFW
AA7375 QF8 DFW -> BNE
Q. Anything I need to be aware of for their flights returning home?

Thanks in advance

Ill do up to ATL and let others do the others.

BNE-SYD-DFW-ATL

3 flights - all flights will be on the luggage tag they will put on at checkin at BNE. Also you should get all boarding passes to ATL at BNE so you wont have to checkin again.

The only time they cant give you a boarding pass is if one of the legs is more than 24 hrs in the future at the time you are checking in at BNE.
This is not a problem as you can most likely do it in SYD.

At DFW go thru immigration for passport visa check, collect luggage off carousel at DFW and then go thru customs and see if they want tp search bags. Then take bags to baggage drop area. This is not checkin for the next flight. Just baggage drop off. You can only drop off luggage which has a tag to the next flight - which you do as it was put on in BNE. After dropping off luggage ,go to the next terminal or gate. No checkin required if you have the boarding passes to final destination.

If you dont have BP for say DFW-ATL just do it in DFW checkin but your bags can still go thru babbage drop-off if it has luggage tags to final destination. Sometimes they cant tag the bags thru to final destination and as a result also cant give you a BP. in which case checkin with bags in the normal at DFW. (And not drop off luggage at drop off area as you dont have luggage tag to final destination ) comprende???...

next leg please someone?
