My first SilverSea experience

It's an easy free kick to brand every boat ride as a cruise..there are cruises and there are aqua based adventures...

Hell must be freezing over this year. I'm going on my first cruise too....albeit one on of the Hurtigruten cruises up and down the Norwegian coast. I also found how opaque pricing and details were to be incredibly frustrating.

So with hell freezing over, I guess the Dockers are in with a chance to win the premiership.

Although I agree about the poor website description, I suspect and believe much of the Silverseas customer base - especially new ones - go through a TA, rather than booking blindly through the website.

There are a fair number of businesses who prioritise upgrades and information to their TAs, and leave their direct retail site comparatively neglected.

Even a 'single supplement' would be sort of OK. I mean, I'm not going to use 2 shares of all the food & bev or use 2 spots on the site excursion.

Cruisers, do companies like SilverSeas ever offer 'last minute' deals for unsold cabins?
As someone who sails solo on SS, I feel your frustration.
All travel for solos that I have experienced attracts a single supplement, and I agree, I don't take up 2 shares of food, beverages, or excursion places. SS does offer a range of of reduced single supplement voyages (10 - 25%), but of course quite often they aren't on the voyages you want. I have been fortunate to find availabilty on enough to meet my needs so far.
However, if you have the flexibility to travel at short notice, there are often last minute ( after final payment, so about 3 months out) offers available on a range of other voyages.

After I saw the web site, I went straight to my TA, who enlightened me. :)

This is what the SS people I spoke to kept pushing - and I had to point out what you say.

This sounds like a very frustrating experience so far. I hope you find a suitable boat
