Is it possible to have 2 or more QF frequent flyer accounts under the same name?

Thanks

Why would you do this?

Probably against the rules, although I dare say possible if you used different addresses and only domestic bookings (ie where no passport identifier)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

One of my daughters has two accounts.

Or at least she did.

Have only accrued points in the one though.

Why would you do this?

Well, I'm thinking of separating points earned from business trips from points earned from personal trips.

My company is reviewing travel policies and wants me to use earned points for business trips.

Possible - yes.

Against the terms and conditions - yes "5.3 Each Member may have only one Qantas Frequent Flyer account."

So much for perks. A real bugger when you consider status

Tell them to get stuffed and look for a new job.

The points are not a bonus, they are an offset allowance for being away from family and friends so much.

I can’t imagine it’d be that hard to keep track of which flights were business-related and which were personal… also, if you earn the status flying personal, does the status bonus points from the business flights count as yours or the companies? Because I would have thought in that scenario they’d be yours. Still, wouldn’t be too tricky to keep track of.

Ahh there was someone who posted on here some time ago sucking info so he could sell his FF software to companies wanting to get employees to use points for company travel.

I believe it would open a huge can of worms.. Personally if work said use your points, I'd stop flying..

My previous company did this on points earned on card spend and controlled that through all flights being charged to one card - although when the CEO left quickly we never did get those points back...

If a staff member uses their own points for a business trip we replace those points inside 2 months and often within 2 weeks.

Jeez thats a bit rich. I hope the job is super cool, that kind of stuff is bad karma.
Anyone want to do a cost benefit analysis on running spreadsheets to separate business vs leisure travel and who paid for what flight and the originating source of FF points :)

The only thing I dont like it is when I get flights booked on my behalf(and they ignore the here is what you need to book e-mail), they always end up picking the worst options, I much prefer to do my own booking and bill back.

We've covered not being able to have multiple accounts per the rules, but I've always been able to keep points from work travel, and like The Rok said it's almost considered a "bonus" for having to be away or catching that 6:40am flight. The only exception was if we were given points from the corporate cards for a set purpose (eg: when 200k points were transferred specifically to use them to book SYD-LAX return in J).

Same.

It got to the point at my previous company where I was actually handling travel arrangements for several people (including complex travel for the CEO when he wasn't sure if his EA would get it right). It had no relationship whatsoever to my job description, but I enjoyed doing it so it didn't bother me.

They ended up getting a corporate TA when I left mid last year, but even now I get called for advice as I'm still good friends with a lot of people there.

Any company that seriously thinks they are able to do business travel on frequent flyer points is in Fairlyland. It's probably bean counter driven so I say whoever dreamed up the idea has the responsibility of booking it.

We all know how tricky it can be to get redemption or award seats to begin with, so what happens when the business trip needs to be postponed or have a date change particularly if the schedule is driven by the customer?

Aren't frequent flyer points in an individuals account their property? The company would need to get permission from each employee to access their account to use the points. Given that most companies have enough drama trying to book & co-ordinate travel on regular fares I just can't see this thing getting off the ground.

But as mentioned above, if the company is resorting to these methods I'd be looking for another job so I could tell them to jam it! :p

As much as I dislike parts of our travel and expense policy - all points earned are the responsibility and property of the earner. As it should be.

Also, with our corp cards - work won't swallow the Membership Rewards annual fee, but if you cough up for it - the points earned are yours as well. Seems a reasonable-ish trade off :)

Just asking, how does your business deposit points into a individual's account?

Their credit card and BAS is the simplest way to replace points at the moment.
Avoid Woolworths CC .

I wonder how you provide premium service with NGCI?

Not sure how that relates to this thread but...

Having used NGCI before I would use it without a problem. Very quick and painless

Henk, apart from the obvious cost savings to your company, could your employer also be concerned about murky Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) issues if points earned on business trip are used for private travel ??
