Double shots, mate. Big night last night <followed by a fake high pitched laugh> 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Goddddddd, it's been so long since I heard/said this :(

This is off-topic, but I wonder if anyone's thought of creating a 2021 version of that Qantas safety video featuring Australians stranded all around the world?

You could feature Aussies stuck in Tokyo, Shanghai, London, New York, Santiago, Auckland, Queenstown, Johannesburg & Singapore and adapt the script to something like:

"Heeyyyyy fellas. Been vaccinated?"
"Double shots, mate."
"Still can't go home though."
*insert fake laughter*

Bit like those QF ads singing Peter Allen‘s Still Call Australia home…not!
As a proud Melbourne caffeine addict I really like the ‘double shots’ narrative🤗🤗

All the sons and daughters spinning around the world, away from their families and friends...

That is a great idea. I have been working out a plan and it goes somewhat like this -

This video could serve a few purposes -

One of the purposes could be - purely from a marketing/branding perspective - to get those that are stranded overseas and willing to participate in a video to shoot a short segment with them saying the adapted script and end with a unified message indicating that they are missing Australia and would love to be in the arms of their loves ones pretty soon.

Alternatively, a short seg could be shot with those that are in Australia, missing their loved ones stranded overseas. This segment could be a young mother telling her kid how to do the seatbelt and advising the kid to listen to the care taker/cabin crew/adult accompanying the minor etc, in a cute, cuddly way ... OR it could be a kid whose dad/mum/grandparents/siblings are stuck overseas and the infant is showing them how to wear a mask properly (both the oxygen & face mask when traveling)

Another purpose would to be re-iterate the importance of getting fully vaccinated - as fully vaccinated country would mean open borders, more flights in & out, home quarantine instead of hotel quarantine, getting a chance to meet loved ones etc

It's a terrific idea if QF could do this and sort of reinforce the togetherness and oneness that we as Australians strive to attain each day, in everything we do. Also, initiatives like these could bring the nation together in tougher times. Although, I'm unsure if everyone would look at it the same way ...

GOSH, writing this post brought me to tears 😢

CoVID did us all in, eh!

There was general dislike of these videos amongst the crews. Basically they were far too long, and trivialised what was supposed to be a safety message.

I guess the idea is to encourage people to watch. For first time flyers they probably do. But they do go on far too long.

IMHO, the best was one in the mid-noughties, which was to short and to the point, used crew in the aircraft and important featured a checklist at the start, which was a good memory prompter, particularly for those flying regularly.

Suddenly "double shot mate?" has a whole other meaning and is a question QF staff will have to ask a lot potentially...

Who knew QF's agency would be so prophetic ?!!!!
