I've only done QF12 SYD to JFK twice and really really endeavor to avoid it and it's inherent transit pressures. SYD-LAX is fine, followed by a later AA flight. Generally little cost difference.

Hi- hope this is the right place to ask ? I am flying into LAX from BNE on QF then onto Phoenix on AA about 4 hours later . Do you recommend Qantas First Lounge or AA Flagship Lounge ?

Isn’t the Qantas First lounge only for onward flights departing TBIT?

Has been a while since having QF12 as ,hopefully, flight with out delays .
Just wondering can you generally get time to duck into the lounge at LAX when arriving from JFK going to Syd?
Thanks
Sorry, late to the party on this one. I've taken qf12 twice in last year and I don't mind the quick transfer at lax (as at least it's a chance to get out of the plane for an hour or two) and it's a time efficient way to get to NYC. However, both times I've had to hurry through the lounge (eg 30 mind max on both occasions and possibly I'm being generous with time recollection)

Assuming you have access to both, then I would prefer QF FLounge.
There is airside connection between TBIT and T4, T5, T6
After exiting TBIT luggage drop off turn right without exiting to kerbside. Take lift up to departures, then go to TBIT departures security on mezanine level then head to FLounge. From FLounge to T4, immediately after exiting FLounge glass sliding doors turn a hard left and follow signs to T4

FLounge vs Flagship
Some Flagshipsxx_ are being refurbished and are just as good as FLoungeLAX. I reckon food is better at FLounge(LAX). The FlagshipLAX tends to be busier. Showers are on par.

Himeno , have you used the Flagship lounge ? how do they compare ?
The new AA Flagship lounges are like a QF international J lounge.
There is a Flagship dining area where they have dining options more like the QF F lounges, but Flagship Dining is limited to F pax, can't be used by status.

But 1) there's champagne (for all with access, not just a 'select' few) & 2) the F&B is generally far better than what QF supply in their J lounges.

Aha - on your advice and the post below I will stick to QF F lounge - thank you much appreciated
You may be better to use both; I certainly would.

QF First for a shower and light breakfast before moving through the airside connector to the Flagship lounge to wait until it is 44 minutes before your flight to PHX.

For me, Qantas First Lounge every time.
QF Cafeteria is ok for a shower and food but the AA flagship lounge is better for drinks and more comfortable furniture to await your flight. I generally do both.

(Most AA flights depart from closer to the FL in T4 than TBIT. )

Agreed -no comparison IMHO - flagship food and drink is way better than Qantas J lounges.

except AA Flagship F lounges are open to F pax and OWE.. same as the QF F lounge, not the J lounge so it's a bit of apples and oranges IMHO. At LAX, for example, QAF F lounge has bubbles for all too....

If you were comparing the AA Flagship F lounge with the QF SIN or HKG lounges, the yeah.... but at LAX all things being equal if you have access to one, you'd have access to both (* unless you're an AA EXP in Y or J domestic ineligible to access AC/Flagship F. I'm unsure if an AA EXP in international Y/J can access the flagship lounge?)
