So I was told today by the CSM on board that QF will be adding in an extra row to economy at the rear of the 737s. Apparently they are switching the toilets at the rear to 'slimline' units to accommodate the extra rows.

Apparently no seat pitch changes, but the slimline toilets would have to be bloody skinny to fit in!

Reconfigured aircraft are supposed to start flying from June/July.

B737 narrow body OR B787 that "might come into QF's hands/operation"?
If 737, ouch!
Am not sure which, but I think one of the 737 family that VA already has 30 rows, vs the 29 I usually fly QF with.
Might have to go ultra thin (loose tonnes) and drop QP membership, and not eat anything on flights!

As AustraliaPoochie said VA's Boeing 737's already have 30 Y rows. QF is just removing the two small galleys (ovens i believe?) behind the lavatories and adding six extra seats!

In the end QF will be two seats short of VA's 737's (When the reconfiguation starts QF's 737's seat count will be configured 12J 162Y = 174 compared to VA's 737's 8J 168Y = 176).

I wonder if that will mean no more hot meals?

I remember commenting on this a while ago. Can't imagine it'll help much with the removal of widebodies on the triangle, but it's something.

I think with the new Y boxed meals there isn't any need for these galleys anymore.

The box meals for dinner have a cold and hot option so they will still require ovens.

I think if they have the seats upright they can fit more seats in a 737.
