Yes...though only out of Sydney..for those based in Oz..

From elsewhere you would have to pay for Syd return fares..and so that eats into the attractiveness.

Anyone think the current 25% off (or 50% off in some cases) is likely to extend beyond September 2009? I am thinking of booking an award for Christmas/New Year and wondering if it is worth waiting or booking now to limit the risk of award seats not being available.

If you know your dates or can fix them now i would be tempted to do it, as even though there is lots of seats today, and reduction of SYD-SIN flying by any carrier could mean that the planes are fuller just to maintain a profit situation (or rather not too much of a loss)

I was just thinking about fixing some of my dates for 2009 and burning some SQ miles (Transfer from Amex)

And if some special discounts do come available then the original ticket can always be cancelled for 3000pts or $30USD (assuming no SQ status, half of that if have status).

I think it highly unlikely SQ will have discounts on award tickets during peak season so probably best to lock in award seats now while they are still available.

The total miles required for WHY SYD-BKK return is 46,750 + ~$450 which is good value considering the cheapest options that time of the year are ~$1600. Also able to get a stopover overnight in SIN on the way over and ~10 hours in SIN on the way back.
