Just wondering if anyone has used a Crumpler Dry Red No.9.

My trusty old work horse died and for the past few days have had to do the unthinkable, carry my bag . I have known for some time it was going to die so had already started looking and was planning to get a Briggs and Riley in SIN in about 3 weeks.

As a work bag I was looking at a mobile office type that can also take clothes, the type I had. One of the biggest requirements is to be able to get the laptop out with ease at security, prefer 2 wheels over 4, I am pretty rough with work bags most I have owned end up with inline skate wheels and bearings.

I fly with it at least x2 times a week, often more. It will carry the laptop, ipad, phones, headphones, gadgets, cables and notepads etc. Then there is the need for the 1-2 day trips so shirts, toiletries etc. The bag will also be my daily work bag and will get dragged across asphalt, cobble stones and tram tracks loaded with standard work stuff. It also has another function as my shopping bag.

Given my old bag died a few days ago and it is 3 weeks until I go to SIN I just happened to be in a store today and there was a Crumpler that seemed to fit the bill hence, my opening statement. It was already reduced and there was an additional 30% off, so from the original ticket price $375 I made an impulse purchase at a cost of $157. Crumpler is not a brand I would have considered but looking at their website they warranty would appear to be for as long as the original purchaser owns it.

Are Crumpler bags good, is there other options, it is still in plastic so I can return it if needed.

I can’t comment on this model. I use a Crumpler satchel as my cabin bag but my needs are simpler. Useful pockets very functional.

I like the brand, their design ethos and style.

They can be a bit pricy but at your price I’d say good value.

It's been a few years now since I've bought a Crumpler but all 4 of my bags are still going strong (although not used as regularly as OP would do). My one experience with using their warranty also was very good. Had a satchel style "messenger" bag whose zip had burst after 2-3 years. Took it to the shop sans receipt and had it changed over for a new one in less than a minute no questions asked.

I have several crumplers, including backpack, very happy with all of them. Good quality, tough fabric, well designed.

I can confirm Crumpler lifetime warranty works well.

I bought a "Dry Red No 11" for $355 in 2014 just before a 3 month trip, no idea what happened to the receipt.

4 years later it got "crumpled" in the cargo hold of a LH flight from Barcelona - the base was cracked so it no longer wheeled freely.

I took it to the local store and they agreed to replace it immediately.

The only issue being they no longer sell that model, so they replaced it with a Vis-à-Vis 78cm (RRP $449)

The stitching on my messenger bag zip came undone, took it in for repair (no receipt), and it came back looking as new. Zero cost.

I had to check to see if it was actually my bag or a new one.
