Hi All,

I am looking at doing to cruise with the family around Hawaii.

The cruises a 1 week and finish at 7am on a Saturday morning.

The last plane for Australia to leave is Hawaiin Airlines flight (which I want to take with a VA/DJ flight number) which leaves at 12:30pm. The jetstar/QF planes all leave mid morning.

My question: is 5 1/2 hours enough to get off cruise, collect all baggage and then get to airport for 12:30pm flight.

I would be interested to know any other experiences be they in Honolulu or elsewhere in North America.

I'm guessing you are doing the Pride of America cruise. You'll have great time.

The ship will/should organise the transfers for you. They are very efficient at getting you off as they have to [-]sale[/-] sail again that afternoon.

We were staying in Honolulu after the cruise and were checked in at the Hotel by mid morning.

You can do express disembarkation ie. wait in a pre-arranged lounge and you are called first to leave the ship carrying all your luggage (with no assistance from the crew).
We have done this many times in USA, Europe and NZ to maximize the remainder of our holiday :)

What cruise company was that with Fifa?

The cruises you have to watch are ones that involve clearing US Customs at the end of your cruise. Our cruise departed & arrived from San Juan in Puerto Rico but as it classed as PR is part of the US you near to clear customs on arrival. The ship docked at 0600 but we didn't get to airport until 1115 for our 1245 flight as there was only about 3 or 4 people processing a whole cruise ship.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This cruise leave Honolulu then travels around the Hawaiin islands then returns to Honolulu.

Straitman, did your cruise need to clear customs at the end?

NO.

Honolulu to Honolulu so no issue.

One additional piece of information.

Because there are so many passengers (approx 2200 I think) they do have several disembarkation times. I would probably be useful to be proactive and make sure you are in one of the first groups. They do offer the times but the early ones go quickly so asking ahead of time would be useful.

Thanks for that.

Is this something that TA books here or is that done on board?

Also, I presume any Australian TA can access NCL line for bookings?

The best options I have found are Norwegian Cruise Line or Vacations to Go.

Both are pretty proactive and will ring you back (from OS) if necessary. The rates are almost universally the same but occasionally vary. The good thing about NCL is that you can look at all the maps and pick your own cabin.

The disembarkation timings are done on board.
