Here's the AusBT articles on it:

It's meant to have started this morning on MH141 to Sydney. First taste for Australian departures will be tonight on MH140 from Sydney.
They're actually a little ahead of schedule. The new J seats weren't meant to debut until next month!

I have a weird soft spot for MH (they were my first J flight) so fingers crossed this helps to get them back on track.

Once they sort out their hard product, then they just need to revert to the old award chart :)

A great start to the brand revival of MH but surely the airline require a lot more effort than just upgrading the looks and hard products.

Always flew with MH on the basis of convenience but my past two experiences (most recent being Christmas Eve in J) have been horrendous. Chief steward and his support crew seemed flustered and also lack of hospitable vibe.

Having said that, am excited about the prospect of flying on MH's new J this Christmas again!

Will definitely encourage me to fly MH J now that their seat has been upgraded...

Give me the satay!

I'm really looking forward to trying their new J seat as well but I will have to wait until the end of the year...

I've taken 8 flights on MH in the past year and actually have really liked the service. Flying MH F out of LHR later this year; looking forward to catching the new J product back from KL. They do a lot of things right on the airline; hope they make a complete comeback.

I've tried the new seats and they are a huge improvement on the old style - for me the 'throne' seat doesn't work - when in flat bed mode the leg/foot space is too restrictive - so I've decided to go for 7A in future
Interesting to note the addition of 2 economy rows immediately behind J in what was previously J seating !
I'm an MH fan and plat and it's great to see them making an effort - good luck to them !!

Wouldn't the leg/foot space in the bed mode be the same for all seats. The only seat I can see that potentially won't have the foot space restricted is 1K since it won't have the pair of seats in front of it.

Seats 1A - 7A are all single therefore with only 1 seat in front - that, I suspect, makes them more suitable for me

Was on MH141 on Thursday 16 June in J. Most impressed with the new cabin and the seats. Sadly there were only 10 passengers in J. Travelling with the wife and we were in 2H and 2K. As we had a connection to Brisbane could not check in on line.

After take off I moved to a single seat in row 1. More storage with the single seats than the double seats. Seat was very comfortable and I tried out the fully flat bed after some very acceptable Philipponnat Champagne. Found the bed very comfortable and more comfortable than the bed on SQ777-300ER.

Booked a seafood dish with Chef on Call which was very tasty.

Only downside is that MH no longer fly to Brisbane!

I finally got the new Business seat on MH123 on 18 June.
I'd been tracking the metal used on MH123 for the week leading up and there was not a single refurbed cabin.
Nervousness was put to rest upon boarding.

Bottom line the seat feels, and probably is, narrower than the previous Recaro.
I'm not a huge person unless compared to a pygmy and I felt restricted lying on my back.
There are probably 3 permutations of the seat in that each version has slightly different placement of storage compartments,
seat dividers and tray table location. I was seated in 2C and did not have a privacy screen, whereas 2D had a sort of privacy divider to the aisle.
The tray table is tiny, and can barely house MH awful meal tray. And it is flimsy.
When putting the tray table in position, you have to be careful not to slice your headphone cord.

Every time you make an adjustment to the seat, the mood light in the footwell comes on,
and you have to manually switch it off. It put me in a bad mood !

Seats 1K, 4K and 6K are probably the pick of the bunch with the most privacy.
Seats 2A, 4A and 6A are pretty good too for privacy.
Probably 2C, 4C and 6C are the least private.

Hope this helps !

Had my first experience with the updated Business Class set-up from KUL to MEL.

The two biggest improvements are the flat bed seat and multiple storage options.

The menu and amenity kit are the same.

That's strange Andy as my last KUL to SYD return definitely had an expanded menu plus additional 'eat when you wish' options - though the wine list is still the same - as is the amenities kit
Doing KUL to MEL next Saturday so let's see !!

can i confirm that now all the A330 from KUL to MEL/SYD has been upgraded to the new Business class seats ??
or only limited flights ??

Seatguru.com have finally updated their seat map for the MH A330 showing the new business class seating.
However the map appears to be incorrect, showing business class filling the entire forward cabin whereas there are actually 2 economy+ rows at the rear of the cabin.

I flew this in August and will be it on it again in two weeks. It's pretty nice, as you as you don't get the pair w/o direct aisle access. I did find it a bit short though (I'm 1.85) There was an IFE hiccup where they had to reboot 5-6x and it took about 90 mins for it to work. I loved the fact the plane was cold (first flight in a while that was actually chilly, which I prefer).

Everything else is pretty much the same as before, as noted above.

overall, I like the seat better than CX or AA J, but not as much as QF J. I know that's an unpopular opinion for most who love the CX/AA seat, but it's a good hard product now, especially for solo travelers who get the single seats. I like the foot room vs the CX seat (always feel like my feet are constrained in a box) and it's more comfortable to chat w/ spouse in the middle pair vs CX/AA.

What seats would you recommend for a couple?

I'll be flying with my gf on the A330 from KUL to SYD in J this coming November.

Cheers
Ken

ICUDR If you are wanting to sit together and both want aisle access then take the middle seats. If one of you wanting a window seat then rows 2,5 or 7 on the right hand side are two seats. Check out the seat guru link above.

If you take the two seats then maybe lucky that no one sitting in front or behind. Cabin crew had no issues with me moving to the seat in front. Enjoy the flight!
