I had a short connection in SIN between QF35 and MH616 yesterday 12July2016.

Hand luggage only.

Boarding pass via MHMobile -QR code on smartphone

Gate security had issue with my non sealed DF bag (I did not open it - but the DF in Syd gave me an open bag instead of sealed bag even though I told them I was transiting through SIN to KUL. Boarding passes submitted showing transit in SIN.

Anyway had to go to desk and gate check bag which was no problem.

However when they scanned the QR code, they said I had been offloaded.

OK no problem must be some mistake. I told gate agent could it be because I had been upgraded after the issue of the boarding pass?. MH allows OLCI 48 hours prior to departure. I had no internet after my departure from SYD so could not check email.

They said I am unable to board but I said check to see if I had been upgraded.

The PNR said ticket cancelled but when they checked further the ticket had been cancelled and a new one reissued. The new reissued ticket with new ticket number says J. Not sure why this was not obvious within the PNR.

Horray!.

SGD$70 for upgrade for a $79 ticket.
I bid the minimum on a MHSmart ticket - It really did nothing t matter as it was a short flight, but pr Baby worth it for the Intel factor.
