Late last night I was informed of a most unfortunate incident that's happened to turtlemichael, who had fallen extremely ill and was hospitalised in the midst of what was otherwise a happy trip to Sydney enroute to Thailand.

The good news is that he has made somewhat of a recovery, and was well enough to speak on the phone briefly this morning. Medical treatment continues in the meantime and will be ongoing for some weeks to come, but he seemed to be in rather good spirits.

The bad news is, from what I understand, the fella is still in lots of pain and long term health consequences are a possibility.

I thought I'd start this thread to rally some support from the AFF community for one of our own, and to cheer him up in the knowledge that we're all thinking of him when he next gets a chance to log on.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, turtlemichael. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones at this time. I hope everything goes well for you, and you'd recover from this terrible ordeal as quickly as possible. Wishing you lots of strength, and the very best wishes.

*Big hugs*

I add my wishes for a speedy recovery and to see your reports of much interesting travel in the future.Very sorry to hear of your illness-especially at the start of a trip, though better than something happening whilst O/S.

turtlemichael,

Sorry to hear about your illness and hope you make a good strong recovery. We look forward to hearing from you again soon.

I met Michael in Cairns in February and had a great dinner with him and Platy. He must have heard I was planning to go back to Cairns shortly so has done all he could to avoid me even though it's my shout. We had a really good time that night and I was looking forward to catching up again. We'll have to try again in May at Ozfest.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Very sorry to hear of your malaise turtlemichael.

I wish you a speedy and full recovery, so we can enjoy reading your posts back on AFF again!

Wishing you a speedy recovery mate!

turtlemichael - get well soon, mate!

Looking forward to catching up with you in CNS next May.

Like everyone else turtlemicheal, hope you get well soon and be thankful that it didn't happen in Thailand or elsewhere.

I remember a friend of ours got food poisoning in Mykonos and it cost the poor mongrel $2500 for about a day and a half of medical treatment and saline...

Get well soon, turtlemichael. Wishing you every blessing for a speedy recovery to full health.

I spoke to turtlemichael this arvo, and he's v hopeful that he'd be able to go back to Cairns this coming Saturday pending a few tests. He sounded a fair bit better. Fingers crossed that he'd be able to go home soon.

Also, he wants you all to know that he's v touched by all the kind wishes (which have been relayed to him by his partner who lurks here) and thanks all of your for your concern. :)

Great to hear he is getting better :)
I hope he makes a full recovery very soon !

Many thanks folks for those kind words. It is very much appreciated. :) I'm home as of today and, with various tubes attached to me for the next month or so, on the way to recovery. There won't be much travel for a while but that will change soon I hope.

Again, many thanks.

It is good to read your 'post-hospitalisation report' and like everyone here, I hope you make a quick and full recovery so that this becomes just a health 'bump' between trips.

We did a RDH/DRW detour last month, around the time of your own hospitalisation, for tests on Mrs BB following a horror trip from SIN, but I agree it's better to not require hospitalisation in flight.

I know I'm a bit late, TM, but hope it goes well. As others have said, thank your god that it happened PRIOR to the big flight!

turtlemichael, a lot can be said that recovery is aided by being in comfortable surrounding and in the care of locals/family.

Welcome back to CNS and may your recovery be swifter than the treatment plan. Otherwise it might put a dent in yor WP re-qual

Look forward to meetign you in May.
