I'm flying from PER-MEL tonight on the red-eye then packing up a small boat to ship back to Perth and flying back on the 8:35pm MEL-PER.

Does the domestic lounge have showers? I have just realised I've only used the Qantas lounge in Melbourne so no idea if the Virgin one has showers, trying to work out if it's worth paying to get in as don't have status with Virgin.

There is one ‘normal’ shower and one with disability access. As mentioned earlier, collect towels from the front desk.

^^ both these two are en-suites with toilet included in your private bathroom.

There is an additional shower room with sink and mirror, but no toilet, inside the male toilets just to the right of these two ensuites. I assumed something like this in ladies as well.

Pretty much every time I been through MEL all three have been occupied and it takes a few goes of checking if they vacated before I get a shower.

I have used a showers a few times in Melbourne, I have to say the Perth showers are better!
