Folks
Just new to AFF. Am flying Melbourne to Calgary, via LAX, later this month, with Qantas. The LAX to Calgary leg, is with Westjet.
I understand that Qantas & Westjet have a codeshare arrangement. However, I haven't been able to get any clear
information as to whether our baggage will be checked through at LAX, or if we will need to collect it, take
it through Customs, then re-check it in. Can anyone please advise
Thanks

At LAX all bags need to be collected after immigration before proceeding to customs. QF in MEL will tag your bag all the way to YYC, you will simply need to drop your bag near the transfer desk located at the end of the corridor on your right after customs.

Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but if I understand correctly, we need to do the following
- collect our bags, once landed in LAX
- go though Customs (will need to declare, for prescription medicines)
- drop off bags at transfer desk
- walk around to Terminal 2
- Check in with Westjet
- go through TSA
- hopefully make flight, in time (only have 2hrs 10 minutes between landing (6.35am) and departure (8.45am))

QF in MEL will give you your LAX-YYC boarding pass, so no need to check in for the flight at T2, simply go through security. Since your flights are on the same ticket you are protected in case of delay, so no need to stress about missing the connection.
