a bit confused here folks,

Just trying to add a relative for a single lounge pass that I have with my credit card

as per T/C for elgibility, minimum 24 hours, QF/JQ flight

when I was linking, it said, Perth not avaiblable, I linked successfully and it said Melbourne international business lounge on the linkage,

however, google revealed the following "Please note not all eligible lounges will be available for access due to lounge redevelopments or other access restrictions. Currently, this includes the Melbourne Qantas Club and all Perth lounges (except Perth Qantas Club). Affected lounges will not display when linking an invitation to eligible flights."

is the Melbourne qantas club different to business lounge?
Im looking to buy a lounge pass for the partner traveller, as Ive only got 1 x complimentary pass on my account

The MEL QC is in the domestic terminal. The QF business lounge is in the international terminal.

Since renovations have finished both MEL lounges should be available for using the pass.

thanks you two! apprecaite it

just a little confused by all the qantas lounge terms
off to buy a lounge pass so it becomes a pair

I am also fairly sure that Melbourne (domestic) QC restriction has been lifted now that the lounge refurb has been open since late last year.

but yes, the international business lounge is a different beast. Specially if one likes dungeons :)

Qantas has 4 lounges at MEL.
A Qantas Club and Business lounge in the Domestic T1 terminal and a Business and First lounge in the International T2 terminal.

It's been a very long time since I've used a lounge pass (I think I've only ever gotten 2). IIRC, the passes are only valid at the lower 'status' lounge in a given terminal.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

IIRC, the passes are only valid at the lower 'status' lounge in a given terminal.
That's only for the normal passes. There are the Platinum One First class passes which also entitle access to the International First (however strangely not the Domestic Business)

Does anyone have any experiecen with domesitc lounge access in melbourne?
Friend wants me to give him one but if its bad ill just tell him not to bother

How do you mean "bad" ? the lounge? (I guess mileage varies on the QC as it is now) or the treatment of passes there? They're allowed since the renovation finished ....

The Qantas Club is a windowless dungeon. You would be better off using your lounge pass elsewhere.

as in, if its just horrible, I ve read a few lounge reports for qantas lounges recently, and some of them were pretty bad
ive only done international flight lounge and so was half expecting domesitic lounge to not be worth it,

but if its fine, and accessible for a domestic flight departing melbourne, i will give it to my friend

Well the domestic lounge is not a dungeon (since it's upstairs :) ) but the lack of natural light is not great.

The space is far better than it WAS prior to the upgrades though IMO and if someone wants the drinks and whatever then fine. Would it be a place to longer? Probably not, and depending on time of day is probably going to be pretty busy/crowded,

It's obviously not as nice as the redone J lounge though.

IMO

thanks for the info! looks like i will give him the pass, and tell him not to get his hopes up,

I think if there is plentiful food more than a few sandwiches and free flowing drinks, he will be happy, and a spot to sit down and charge his phone etc and relax

Remember time of day of flight is important.. as in bar doesn't open till 12.

I wouldn't counton "plentiful" food btw.

no probs, thanks for the heads upm luckily its not me flying!
I tried the qantas business class lounge, and thought the food was ok, desgined for food to be set and forget, so lots of cold foods and things hat can be left out all day

There may also be a soup in the QC.

As for the MEL domestic J lounge, there is also the Spice Bar for more freshly cooked items which I find fantastic.. but again that doesn't open until 12 which is unfortunate.. There are definitely far more options in the J lounge than in the QC.
