I see BA SIN-SYD diverted into Melbourne yesterday and remained on the ground no doubt as crew ran out of hours.

Apparently BA left pax in Melbourne and said find your own way to Sydney. I thought they might have arranged QF to pickup the pax.

Surely this is not the case? I find this pretty poor if so.

Would the crew have run out of hours after 8 or 9 hours? Seems a little on the low side?

Any pax originating in the UK or europe would have been entitled to care and assistance, plus potentially delay compensation, depending on the reason for the delay.

I would absolutely expect to fly in the cabin you have purchased and not rely on an upgrade. All it takes is one flight cancellation and the flight you were hoping to get an upgrade on is now packed and no seats for upgrade. And it’s not just a qantas cancellation… it could be another airline cancelling and funnelling passengers onto the qantas flight.
