Travelling QF 95 to LA in July, departing 5.00pm. Will be with a football team staying in Geelong, getting up to Melbourne about 10.00am the day I depart the LA flight. The football group will go back to Perth, myself and another bloke will then be returning the vehicles we used during the week back to the rental places, he then takes off and stays with his family in Melbourne.
Long time between showering in the morning and then getting on the plane, and a bit of running around in between, would like to freshen up a bit before getting on the plane. Have seen there are showers in the international terminal, however not a great deal of information on the airport website re cost, nor can I find any reviews re cleanliness, availability. Read that can buy a shower pack from the newsagent, anyone know what's in the pack? Cost?
Also, anyone have suggestions where I could shower, have looked at the airport hotels and whether they offer one off gym access, again no luck.
Any information greatly appreciated

Re shower facilities I can't offer any more info other than what's on the MEL website, which you appear to be already familiar with. I'm presuming you have no lounge access. I don't know how many of you are travelling on QF95 or how many other QF or American Airlines flights may be involved in the trip, but an AA Admiral's Club 30-day membership can be bought for ~USD99. This will allow, as far as i know (and you should double check if interested, as I have not actually utilised this myself) you access to Qantas lounges (they have showers) and American Airlines lounges (they sometimes have showers) when flying the appropriate airlines. As a membership it also allows you guesting rights - hence my query re whether anyone else is travelling with you. May or may not be worth it to you depending on number of pax and number of eligible flights.

Details here.

Only me travelling, short 3 hours in LAX before an Alaskan flight to Seattle, then don't come back for 8 weeks. The 30 day membership a bit expensive for a shower, have seen though that they have a day pass for $50, so that may be the go seen as I will be at the airport for a few hours.

No worries, day pass is only valid for AA lounges as far as i know. Have a good trip!
