Okay, it's only 3 months behind schedule, but it is almost 12 months since my last trip and MaM.
Meet A Moderator Perth: 27/28 March 2017

I'm flying over on Sunday 18th Feb (BNE/MEL/PER via QF's DSC of course) and staying in the Hilton for 3 nights. Arrival is scheduled at 6.50pm and I am waiting on a client to confirm whether he and his wife are able to see me on Sun (unlikely), Mon or Tues night - so once that is known, we can firm up the dates.

So I'll link all the previous interested people and they can express their interest. Will update this post with date, venue and time.

Copper. I do need to go to Perth, but probably elsewhere for your dates unfortunately. I have booked DRW for those dates, but could easily be in SIN

Okay, good pick up @Steady. Changed original post to "interested people" from posting in the previous years'threads. Only a handful are previous attendees.

I'm going to start taking it personally that you only visit when I'm away :) Well update once my travel plans firm, but not looking promising :(

I head to Perth tomorrow- not sure how long yet, but could be there until the 20th so I’m silver for 18th and 19th

I won't be able to make it, I'm now based in the UK (Manchester) hence my absence from here for nearly a year. :(

I should be Platinum but... gaaahhh... I won't be able to drink as I had my prostate removed on Tuesday afternoon. (So far, all good and now home but catheter is in until Tuesday next week - then I'll see how well my fitness program and pre-op pelvic floor exercises have worked...).

Hopefully only a precautionary prostatectomy due to early detected rise in PSA level, @JohnM. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Don't worry, we'll drink for you!

Updated post #1 with attendees

It’s not that simple QF WP. Prostatectomy is potentially fraught with many adverse consequences that are not to be taken lightly or without good physical and mental preparation.

I don’t think any urologist would advise a ‘precautionary’ prostatectomy - and certainly not based on PSA level alone. PSA is a VERY unreliable indicator of prostate cancer - a rise merely suggests further investigation is prudent. It is also a delicate and lengthy operation with very high out-of-pocket costs if the robotic-assisted laparoscopic option is taken (which is what I chose).

A biopsy is required for diagnosis. Mine was diagnosed seven years ago but was low grade and a single, small, localised focus. I opted for ‘Active Surveillance’, meaning monitoring by roughly annual biopsies, interspersed with a couple of MRIs. (So, just think, QF WP, all the time I’ve known you personally, I’ve been a cancer sufferer!)

My key trigger point for surgical intervention was if the grade (Gleason Score) in any part of the bad bit went to 7. That happened to a small extent at last biopsy in late November. It was clearly indicative that after all those years something was changing for the adverse - so out it came.

It has been a calm, rational, evidence-based, well-planned process totally consistent with modern thinking on the issue.

That’s one reason I’m happy to air my experience freely.

Of course, it’s different for someone suddenly diagnosed with extensive, high-grade cancer where immediate action is clearly required.

Anyway, not meaning to take the thread OT.

I had no doubt that you’d have no hesitation about drinking in front of me!

(Prostate) cancer is close to my heart, as both my father (Gleason 5/4) and his twin brother (4/3) survived it (both had extensive consultation going through the options with family and chose the radioactive pill being inserted) - but my uncle died of metastatic stomach cancer ~17 months later.

So we are both survivors now (I had malignant melanoma removed in 2000). We'll drink to that...you can watch

Let us know the plan when you can. I will be back in Perth by 13th Feb.
JohnM I could help by drinking your share.
It seems like a long time since you were in Perth QF WP.
Hotel rooms should be cheaper now but I haven’t checked. We still go to the Hyatt for dinner regularly as we like the half price for four with the 2 cards and free parking.

I don’t know anyone but I will be in Perth. May I join you guys?
These meets are open to everyone- I know everyone would love you to go.

I am flying East this Friday so am now Bronze...

I do remember you asking a few questions before you headed over, hope it's all going well! Has definitely been a chilly one this winter.

I'm obviously a bronze for this QF WP.

Absolutely. That's why I started these meetings, for members to get to know other members in a convivial social atmosphere

Will let you know when my client meeting is confirmed. That's good timing. It's been 11 months cove. Scored Queen Deluxe Plus room at the Hilton for $778 (3 nights), so feel confident in getting a Suite upgrade
