Hi there,

We are lucky enough to have secured 2 x F award seats from PER-DOH connecting to JMK in J.
This is quite likely our once in a lifetime F experience and we want to make the most of it.

I know that dining is on demand, so how should we space it out.
The flight does not leave PER until 10:45pm which is way past our bedtime, let alone meal time, and also we are coming from Sydney which would make it 1:45am (although we have 4 days in Perth to get over that jetlag)
So we were thinking that we eat in the lounge, board the plane and maybe checkout the onboard bar and have a light snack, before settling in for a few hours sleep.
Should we opt for a breakfast option at about 7-8hours in and then full lunch a few hours later? We would like to dine together - but are conscious not to disturb anyone else if we have lights on or are talking.

We would probably have another breakfast on arrival in the Al Safwa lounge and lunch on board our connecting flight.

Never thought I would hear myself say that a 12 hour flight is not long enough.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Also, our connecting flight leaves at 8:30am and is only a 4.5 hour flight.
Will they serve a breakfast or lunch option?

I suspect they will have a dinner and breakfast offering. Of course, what one has for dinner is pretty similar to lunch.

I would avoid eating in the lounge and safe yourself for what is onboard. Last time I flew QR out of PER, they used the QF lounge in T1. Food options are buffet and calling it average is being kind.

Also, I wouldn't be concerned about dining together. I don't think the lighting or regular chit chat should disturb others.

Is having an afternoon nap an option for you?

Yes I am aware the Perth lounge is disappointing, but DH will be eating his arm off if he has to wait until 11:00pm.

Mrs Tallfont and I did the same flight last April. Whilst it is a late evening departure we were both determined not to miss out on dinner onboard!
We had very little in the QF lounge pre-flight, it's always been pretty average there.

Once departed and settled in we decided to go back to the lounge. We mentioned this to the cabin crew and they setup the table at my wifes seat so we could dine together.
On returning from a quick drink in the lounge everything was ready for dinner (we had already preordered our choices).
A really nice meal. One of the best I have had on an aircraft! Soon after the cabin crew made up the "beds" and we both had a good 7-8 hours sleep before breakfast and arrival into Doha.

The Al Safwa is fantastic. We had another beautiful middle eastern breakfast there and freshened up before our connecting flight to Brussels.

I think this is probably the best option - as it will be normal dinner time in DOH (and Greece, our final destination) so should help with jetlag.

We plan on dropping a hire car at the airport around 5pm - so have quite a long wait at the airport. We should try and nap and shower and lay off the alcohol to be refreshed for the flight.
How were the showers in PER?
