Hi All,
Have a quick one here. Have a series of flights coming up (booked through AA). All flights booked on one ticket. I have two minimum connection time questions.

1) Arrive in DCA on AA240(from LAX) and transfer to AA2116 with a transit time of 49minutes. This seems too short, but am unfamiliar with the airport so don't know.
2) Arrive in DFW(from BOS) and transfer onto QF8 with a connection time of 57minutes. Although have transited through DFW before, I had two hours and could leap the terminals on the train without problem, again this time it seems to short.

If it make any difference, am in First.

Any advice would be well appreciated.

Thanks

57 minutes at DFW is way too short, especially for such an important flight.

Boarding will be almost ready to commence when your connecting flight is due to arrive.
The slightest delay will mean you miss your flight home.

Even if it is legal it's not advisable.

Legal MCT at DFW for domestic-international should still be 40 minutes. I've booked plenty of 40-60 connections without issue, and caught a few closer actual connections due to delayed inbound flights. Takes 15-20 minutes at the absolute max between nearly any two gates at DFW assuming you don't require any extra assistance with mobility.

That said, since it is the only flight to Australia from DFW, if you miss it, you're spending the night in DFW, as DFW-LAX/SFO-Australia same day won't work in terms of timing if you got on a DFW-LAX around or after QF8's departure. BOS-DFW usually does well in timekeeping (I've taken the route 32 times in the last five years , mostly with AA, I know it well), but I'd possibly extend the connection time if I could switch to an earlier flight.

#1 assuming your flight from LAX is on time, should not be a problem. The AA gates are quite close at one end of a Medium sized terminal. Expect 10 minutes at most time.

#2 agree with others, way too short. On a good day, you could make it. But DFW is not the best for on time performance. At a guess, less than 50% chance. And then your stuck for 24 hours. If you want to stick with it, I'd be checking the weather radar every hour, along with your departure from BOS. But, I recommend changing the incoming flight.

Done it twice now at DFW with a 50 minute connection myself and checked bags have made it, even scraped a shower in the first time. Agree if there was much delay you'd be stuffed. No lounge time the second transit.
Personally i don't like extraneous lounge time so unless experience has proved otherwise (eg SYD) I tend to go with what they'll allow. That said, with that connection you're pretty much on your feet plane to plane, no lounge, no shower should be your expectation.
