Hi all I will be flying from Davao to Bangkok with Philippine Airlines to Manila arrive 19.20 than on Cebu air to Bkk 21,25, I have about 2 hours after landing in Manila to connect , I have only hand luggage what's the fastest way to get to T3. and will I make in time

Thanks in advance.

I would strongly recommend a minimum of 4 hours and preferably longer to connect in Manila. Having lived in Manila for 3 1/2 years as a rule of thumb expect that your domestic flight will be delayed 2 hours - bahala na! Then T2 to T3 - well try and get a motorbike to take your for Php100 as the quickest way! Otherwise PAL do offer an airside bus but I think it is only PAL to PAL connections. Otherwise a taxi.

I couldn't more strongly recommend that you allow much more time.

I used the transfer bus recently from SQ to QF connection. Pleasantly surprised at the efficiency.

The only way to do it without hassles is with the internal transfer bus, I don't recommend going outside the airport and attempting to catch a taxi as the traffic is still congested, and it doesn't matter what time of the day or night it is.

So where is this Internal transfer bus located.

Cheers

I just noticed that you are travelling with Cebu Airlines from Manila, sorry my bad, so you will have to check with Cebu airlines to see if you can get on the terminal transfer bus.

And I would again reiterate to allow more time as flight delays and general air traffic congestion in and around NAIA make delays of up to (and over) 2 hours commonplace.

Heartily agree: a connection time this short is asking for trouble.

unfortunately I cannot get there earlier, if its any consolation, I did a search on the ratio of airlines leaving on time in the last week ( Airport Departures and Arrivals ) PAL seems to have a good record for leaving on time where Cebu Air have had many delayed flights of up to an hour hopefully that will be the case for my flight on the 21 Aug.

Cebu's website says that even if you've checked in online you still have to get your documents verified at least 45 mins before departure so that cuts your buffer to just 80mins.

It is a Sunday though so maybe you get lucky and the traffic is light during that time.

You are cutting it fine, but hey some of us do that, right? Main thing , apart from knowing your transport options is to have a plan B if it all goes pear shaped.

A plan "B"?, yeah spend the night at the airport and catch the next flight at 6.30am

I used Kiwi.com who booked the tickets for me in May have checked on both Pal and Cebu to see that I am booked, and I am
With Pal I can't checkin online. but with Cebu, Kiwi will issue the E-ticket for me by 18th Aug.
So because of the tightness of the times between the flights I called them and they assured me that the 2 hours allocated and as I only have hand luggage will be ok. mmmmmmmmmmm ok now if i don't make the flight because Pal is late, what then? He said that they will then book me on the next available flight, (Words are cheap are they not). Doing a search on reviews of the company seems to support that, they are quite good, here's hoping.
On a different note, I was wondering if it all goes pear shaped will my free CCard insurance cover me ? Time will tell'

The internal roadway transfer buses are efficient.

Just go to where the bags come off the conveyors and see staff at a marked 'transfer desk'. They may or may not take your boarding pass, but will advise you when the bus is arriving: I think it runs every half an hour but probably not at 0200 in the morning.

It takes just a few minutes to each terminal. There is no longer any need to go onto public roads, which as others mention can be horrendously congested.

Thanks Melburnian,

finally, a bit of positive hope has arrived. Lets hope that Pal is on time, but gauging the past day's flights, does not look to good.
Fingers crossed the 21st will be all kind to me.

johnnyk, I looked up your flight which is if I'm not mistaken PR1818. On FlightStats' website, it shows an 'average delay' of 65 minutes with the flight being on time (defined as 15 minutes or less late at destination) less than 10 per cent of the time. There is quite a large standard deviation shown and hence there is some chance that the delay may be worse than 65 minutes. Not a good picture.

Unfortunately at MNL delays tend to increase during the day and early evening. However Sunday evenings may not be quite as busy as a weekday, but having said that, you're subject to how the incoming flight (presumably from MNL) operates and that is probably departing MNL for DVO at around 1430 - 1500 in the mid afternoon when it can be quite busy.

A good rule at some such congested airports in the tropics is to try to travel earlier in the day (departing at say 0700, 0800 or 0900 at the latest) as delays tend to be less, subject as always to weather and other uncontrollables.

Thankfully you have HLO but even that is risky given the 45 minute cutoff time as discussed above. I will be saying a small prayer for you to St Anthony!

Next time, allow at least four hours for such connections, although five is better. It isn't much fun being bored at airports but it's preferable to missing a flight.

Your Plan B could include a cheapie hotel in say Makati, but allow plenty of time to get to the airport in the morning on Monday if you do that. If your budget allows it there are some hotels opposite Terminal 3, the cheapest of which is a newbie starting with B (although it's not Hanoi-style 'cheap', as its room rate may be A$120 or so). Nonetheless that's a lot below Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. These ones would cut down on travelling time to and from the airport.

Thanks Melburian1,
I feel better now
I'll let you know if the man upstairs listens to your prayers.
Cheers.

Hi All
I have decided because of the potential consqences if I should miss my connecting flight and the extra costs for hotel and probably more expensive airfare in the morning, and not to mention losing my prebooked acommidation in BKK, I have decided to spend the hotel room cost for a earlier flight to Manila which gives me a healthy 5 hours, I guess I could walk to terminal 3 with that much time.
Thank you all for your helpful advice.

Yep in my experience you will need more time. I have done it a few times and traffic can play havoc and the transfer bus is patchy to the degree.. Sorry we are full you will have to wait for the next bus... Yu ask the question when will the next bus be here... When this one has finished the return trip we will be back... Philly time at its best
