Hi All

I' flying to CDG on QF/EK in December and have come across something (strange?) on manage my booking on both QF and EK.

Just for a bit of background I am flying SYD-MEL-DXB on QF metal and then onwards to CDG on EK metal.

On QF's website my entire itinerary is mapped out correctly (i.e SYD-MEL-DXB-CDG) however on the EK manage my booking page my itinerary only has MEL-DXB-CDG.

I just want to clarify - is this because the EK site doesn't show QF domestic flights even on the same booking? or because it is not an EK codeshare?

This is the first time I've flown to CDG via both MEL and DXB (usually I go via LHR) and I don't want to have a drama at all!!

Also, what is the domestic to intl transfer like in MEL? Assuming my bags will be checked through to CDG!

Your help and expertise is much appreciated,

Dane!

I think that for the EK sectors, a separate EK booking is created that only reflects any connecting flights before or after the EK sectors.

It's very easy. The international is next to the domestic terminal - a few minutes walk. Your bag should be checked through.

While not being able to completely confirm, I have a mixed itinerary all QF-coded BNE-SIN-DXB-LHR-DXB-SIN-MEL-BNE operated by QF-EK-QF-EK-EK-EK-QF. Therefore, as there's an EK flight followed by a QF flight, it shows both/all flights on EK's MMB. If that makes sense.

All my flights have QF codes but include both QF/EK metal. It shows on the QF itinerary all flights so I think I am pretty safe but just found it odd and wanted to make sure it was correct.

Thanks for that!

Not looking forward to the QF Business Lounge in MEL though :/

I had a QFd-QFi-QFi-QFd itinerary. Qantas cancelled one of their QFi flights and an option was to change to an EK with a QF flight number. So now I have a QFd-QFi-EK-QFd itinerary. On EK's website I only see the QFi-EK-QFd sectors.

So QFd sectors can indeed be shown on the EK website. But for a Qantas booking, I think you only see any QF flights either side of the EK flights?

Generally EK's system only gets information about the flight immediately before and immediately after a EK flight (codeshare or not), where the flight before or after is within 24 hours of the EK flight.

There is an exception case: EK is the accepting carrier (carrier doing the first check in) where you may have non-EK flights after the EK flight all within 24 hours of each other. In this case, EK's system will see all of the subsequent flights in the chain (necessary to be able to through-check you to your final destination).

On my Qantas booked itinerary, QFd-QFi-EK-QFd, it shows as QFi-EK-QFd on the EK website. But the QFi-EK part is a couple of weeks apart. So I think it's the previous and next flights around the EK flight?

This isn't the norm but certainly can happen.

Has happened to me a couple of times now ... Anyway, I don't think it matters too much. Clearly you don't always see the whole Qantas itinerary on the EK website.

If your QF flight arrives in MEL early enough, you might have some time in the EK lounge which is much better than the QF J lounge downstairs.
