Maldives over water villas: best price?

So, one of my bucket list to dos is staying at those over water villas like in the movies.

I know it's not going to be cheap but is there a decent way to go all out with out going bankrupt

If you choose random dates and random hotels they are 1500 per night plus

However sometimes on luxury escapes you see them for 1000 per night on special, sometimes at the big hotels and sometimes on smaller islands.

The best I found was about 800 per night on agoda for a over water villa with included all meals and alcohol which is pretty damn good!

Is this how AFF members are doing it?

We chose not to stay over the water in Maldives. We decided we didn’t like the sound of water slopping against the house at night.

Maldives is expensive. Check to see if Luxury Escapes has any deals currently.

If you have SPG points there will be good deals to be had between August and December.

We did an all inclusive LE deal, worked out about $800 night for overwater, all meals, alcohol and transfers between airport and island. Would gladly do it again. Very gladly.

thast $900 per night per room with all meals included,

Ihave no idea the quality of it, but its a good starting point for price

We enjoyed it, and stayed at the Adult Bungalows on the beach that were new and well appointed. Watched dolphin pods every morning. Reef sharks, baby ones, just off shore. As an avid snorkelled I loved it. We were there in January which is known to be very windy. Hot but windy.

You could also sign up to travelzoo - both the Aussie and Asian versions of the site. They send out a 'top 10 travel deals' each week (on a Tuesday). They occasionally have deals for the Maldives, which have been as low as $500 a night. (I've seen the deals maybe twice over the last year, so they're not frequent, but if you have flexibility you could probably take advantage of it.)
