Has anyone noticed that Malaysian Airlines have almost doubled the points needed for flights - at least on the example below.

A one way business class Melbourne to London ticket was 51,000 miles (as of January 2015). As of today (17th February) it's gone up to 97,750 miles. Wow - what an increase !! Wish I'd bought my tickets last month :-(

Yes. There is a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth on the Malaysia Airlines Enrich subforum

Me included in case that sounded like I was saying people were whingeing unnecessarily :-|

In a bizarre turn of events, you can now do MEL-LHR return on one of their partner airlines (QF, CX, QR) for 174,000 pts - or 87,000 one way. Or a multi sector one world award using different carriers and stopovers, for as little as 190,000 pts .... less than MH charge for simple return on their own.

Also, if you only want to just get as far as Athens, Istanbul or Sofia via Doha on Qatar Airways it's only 144,000 return.

Just to confirm

That the first 3 tables are for RETURN flights as it does not state it? The last table says one-way.

If i am linking to the same tables you are it is only the second table that is return. This is a OW multicarrier very similar to the QF 140/280/420 oneworld classic award. The other tables seem to be oneways

I'm pretty sure the first table is on return basis, but quoting the one way distance. IIRC, T&C state that one way awards are only available on certain carriers.

That is how I am reading it too..but only as the last table is clearly worded as a one way flight. So by inference the others are return. But I would be more comfortable if there was some text somewhere stating that it is return.

I must have missed all the commotion.

There appears to be very little value redeeming economy awards intra-Asia.
