oneworld.com has confirmed MH to join one world as official full member from 1 Feb 2013. However, there are no information updated yet in relation to QF FFP / SC earning on MH flights. Rather, MH's Enrich Programs are still promoting points can be earned from flying with AF, DL, VS, etc airlines. Just wonder if anyone has heard of the up-coming arrangement between QF FFP and MH flights?

Also, worth to note everyone that MH's J class is perhaps the cheapest across the oneworld alliance airline flying between AU and Europe.

Generally yes, you should be able to earn.

However the finer details would be coming out closer to the start date I would think.

Just remember there are exceptions as to what fares can and can not earn in regards to OW partner airlines and QFF earning.

I suspect some economy class booking classes will not earn SCs and/or reduced QFF points as well. All business class booking classes should be OK.

Even if it has been confirmed, 1 February 2013 is still a long way away and anything could happen.

I'm sure you'll be able to earn status credits but points/miles should be similar to what current Enrich members are earning now, especially in economy. They have simplified their points earning structure over the past 12 months.

my brother and his wife are flying with Malaysia Airlines in June and i was wondering what lounge rights he would have with them? He is a Gold frequent flyer also

As MH is now part of oneworld, as Qantas Gold, he will have access to the Malaysian Golden lounges when flying MH.

Just an update: I flew Malaysia Airlines from London to Brisbane via KL in economy in March. I assumed being a oneworld carrier it would earn points and SCs. It didn't. I found out months later after submitting the points claim that I was in S class (no idea if this was knowable before booking), which doesn't earn anything with Qantas. Note: it does earn points with every other oneworld airline I checked in line with the advertised benefits of flying with oneworld.

As a WP, you can still check in first class and use the excellent first class lounges in Heathrow and KL on that route so it's not all bad. But flying economy will mean earning points with every oneworld airline EXCEPT Qantas, which seems deliberately deceptive and clearly lacking in integrity on Qantas's behalf.

As long as your ticket books into Y or KLVM you get points and SCs, have done it myself and received SCs and points. Also you can check your fare type by looking at the fare rules before payment.

Maybe do a retro claim with another FF scheme. As for it being deceptive, it was your self stated assumption it would earn, quite a few one world airlines and their program's have earn classes that don't cover every fare.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It just strikes me as curious that Qantas has distanced itself from every other airline in the alliance on this fare type. A fare type which isn't mentioned at any stage during the booking process although can be inferred (if you know what you are looking for) from a bizarre paragraph in the fare rules which ultimately doesn't distinguish it from any of the other fare types.

For every normal consumer, it was a paid international economy flight with a oneworld member which asked for your QFF details from a dropdown list comprised entirely of oneworld airlines. The implication is pretty obvious and is upheld by every scheme on the list except Qantas.

Maybe I am just dirty I didn't get the 70 SCs and subsequently am left doing a status run I didn't expect to need but it seems shifty from most angles.

One Always needs to be cafeful on economy flights.
1. You almost never get full economy sc's.
2. There are fare categories that don't earn on qff - mh example given, many cx sales etc

My understanding is that the partner airlines determine which of their classes will earn points in any given airline loyalty program, so, in this case, Malaysian Airlines would have decided what classes they were willing to pay Qantas to award QF FF points (and the SCs go with the points?).

I am not sure why this is included with others but not Qantas. But it is apparent that after the falling out between the two airlines, they both are taking it out on each others customers.
