Hi everyone,

A Strange question for you.

I am very interested in making my own departure board (ideally an electronic solari board, but other designs are fine). The idea is to be able to run this on a laptop or directly into a flatscreen TV and run it as a piece of art on my wall.

Does anybody know how to do this? Or if there is a piece of freeware/software that can be bought to facilitate the design?

Many thanks

Found these, but not sure if you can change:
Airport Departure Board - After Effects Project Files | VideoHive
AIRPORT DEPARTURE BOARD 121766 - AFTER EFFECTS PROJECT (VIDEOHIVE) - Free After Effects Template
Airport Departure Board 121766 - After Effects Project (Videohive) » Free After Effects Templates | Videohive Free AE Projects

Seems fairly simple - I just had a quick look, but maybe not what you're after.

Found this as well, which may be more what you're after. You can actually change settings.
Use It! instructions - Realtime NG

Edit: Couldn't actually get this one to work. :(

If your a little computer savvy:
Airport Flight Board Text Effect with jQuery - flightboard | Free jQuery Plugins

Never thought of this as wall art option before - I actually love the "Sun-Clock" that shows the shadow moving, but this could be another interesting talking point. :)

Me too.

I'm looking so a solution that comes up on your laptop screen when in the lounge or departure area with the clak-clak-clak ...

Many thanks for this Archphoto, I must admit, I have never coded before, so this seems a little intimidating. Do you think it would be easy to learn?

I'm not that savvy when it comes to coding and whilst the documentation etc seemed straightforward, I'd personally try to get something that already does what you're after.

I'm happy to learn new things, but sometimes re-inventing the wheel drives me crazy and if there's a substitute that does it all, I'll happily take it and tinker at a later date.

Sam's link looks very promising, but I can't test as it's Windows based. If it's all laid out for you (and you can tweak or change things as a bonus!) I'd definitely go for this. Sometimes the only way to see how it works is to jump in and start treading water - if it looks too difficult no harm in bailing but at least you gave it a shot, and who knows, you may enjoy the learning experience.

Too right Archphoto, once I have been able to get home to my laptop I will be giving it a go.

Cheers
