Just got my email to make an offer to upgrade to J for my MEL/BNE flight. As I don't have enough points, seriously considering it. If somebody can offer offer $240 + 10K points for SIN/SYD (previously posted in the Upgrades thread), should I offer a cheeky $50 (that'll pay for my meal onboard and drinks in the QF J Lounge prior). Understand, in accordance with the T&C's, it's in the queue behind the points upgrades.

Already upgraded the BNE/MEL flight using points (I had enough for it).

I got away with the absolute minimum cash + points bid on QF163 in November...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Just leave a horse's head in Alan Jocye's bed. That should get you all your flights upgrade to J :)

I’ve only ever offered the minimum and have about an 80% success rate.

I am WP so don’t know if that plays into it.

Well the Important Information in the bid email only discloses:

Upgrade offers are considered after Classic Upgrade Reward requests are confirmed. All offers will be accepted or rejected on Qantas; sole and absolute discretion. For full terms and conditions, click here. In accordance with Commonwealth policy, this offer is not available to you if you are travelling for Commonwealth purposes.

but the QF T&C's also apply, so I would expect a ranking of status applies first, then price offered within the status band would have some bearing. They want the maximum value, so they aren't likely to give to the lowest bid.

So my bid shows a minimum of $175 + 3,000 points for upgrading MEL/BNE on Thursday.

Maximum points allowed is 14,700 (along with $80). That’s closer, considering points upgrade is 17,500 for this segment.

Nah, I’ll keep the points and $ and fly in Row 4 or 5. I can handle it

As a point of reference, I successfully upgraded MEL-BNE just before Christmas for $135 and no points on VA.

Minimum of $100 plus 3000 points accepted for SYD-MEL tomorrow morning. Plane is an A330 though so more business seats available obviously.
