Meaning to write for awhile. I cannot but feel underwhelmed with the 8000 points or 50SC that don't count towards P1.

For every 500SC earned should be raised at least to 10-13k ...... what's the point of anything less. It hardly rewards for an upgrade. I.e. 25k on MEL-PER red-e-deal.( el cheapo ticket)if not more!

Every time you get there (500SC)it's followed by dissatisfaction ...... only 8000! Not feeling the love of loyalty here.

I'm pretty underwhelmed too, but for this year (and this year only), I'm grateful. I should get 2 bonuses and the 100 SC's will be just enough to tip me into another year of WP and LTG.

Speaking for myself, Platinum One is off the radar, but the status bonus offer of 50 SC's for every 500 SC's earnt on QF/JQ is a big winner for me. It really means I need to achieve 1100 SC's instead of 1200 to retain WP.

Im very happy with that.

It used to be every 500SC gave 5000 points. Then they made it a 4 per year limit.
Then they limited to QF/JQ earnt SC only and increased it to 8000 points.

My membership year ends this month. I have no more travel planned for the next 2 weeks, so no more SC this year.
I have 2285SC, but only 1050 from QF, thus only 2 of 4 bonuses (chose points for both). Under the bonus system when I first joined QFF, I'd have 4 bonuses and be on the way to the 5th (more like have 6 and be almost to the 7th before the "simpler and fairer" changes).
I'm never going to get P1. With the changes to AA earn, it might be hard to retain Platinum next year.

I hear you Himeno I hear You....... 500SC is a lot flying and I was thinking of an upgrade amount of points or an upgrade. Credit! ( it used to be called "upgrade credit" long long time ago!)

I do wonder if there will, come a day when we will see LTWP? Something to aspire to I would have thought!

I agree, plus with P1 there is always a higher status incentive for the folks who want even more than WP.

Look no further than BA who offer LT-G as 35k TP and LT-GGL at 100k TP.

But they don't offer the levels before that, and I'd personally rather achieve something in my lifetime of flying before I hit 100 than achieve the ultimate level just before I die, but have likely never been there previously.

This isn't the thread but I think a CL card at a certain number of SC per year over P1 should be what they do, akin to the BA CCR and GGL.

You're not just speaking for you, but me too! My status year runs out at the end of this month and I've got a point or SC option sitting there. Does anyone know if I leave the decision until early August and choose the SC's, will they post in August (my new status year) or backdate into my current status year (effectively making them worthless)?

To be honest the 8,000 points doesn't change my behaviour at all. It's 3,600 SC or bust. The 5,000 and 7,000 SC per year bonus isn't that enticing either.

I'll likely get WP1 + VA Platinum + SQ*PPS (maybe Solitaire) + AA Explat as a result. (instead of piling everything into QF)

The loyalty bonus is not bad compared to what other airlines offer....

And the further up the "status food chain" you get the “Not feeling the love of loyalty here” becomes more evident.

This requires investigation via a phone call to FF but to be totally honest the year you earn is the year you get 50SC is my interpretation. Not next. Even flying the next status year does not save for example my flight was 23:55 28 Feb , my flight delayed we took off well after midnight!!

1st March! A new Status year!! And where did all those SC go ...... you guessed it wiped with all the other points. Even weeks after my return there were two SC tiers on my account. New after March and old i.e. Those earned just before 28 Feb !! ---->Just in case I had other points that ( might) would tip me over into P1. ( but no)

Many anecdotes would say they post to the year you make the decision in. So, if you make it in your new year, they apply to your new year.

I had a friend who earned the bonus in old year, and deferred the choice until the new year, and selected SCs. The SCs posted in the new year and appear to be counting toward their re-qualification. I believe this has been reported a couple times in the older thread discussing this (can't remember the thread, sorry). Unfortunately, disclaimer is YMMV.

Likewise, that's what I'd heard/read, however it is probably not the expected behaviour, YMMV and I wouldn't get too upset if they reverted to the previous year, considering that's how earning works for everything else.

I can confirm they credit to the SC year in which you made the selection. <as of April>

I used this method to start my current SC year with 50SCs. Just be aware the 50 bonus SC don't count to your next bonus.

Yep, many experiences related in http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ogram/changes-qf-loyalty-bonus-now-79188.html with the bonus SCs credited in the membership year after they were earned.

No doubt many members who would otherwise be stretched to maintain Gold are feeling the love from QFF, as a result of the loyalty bonus option plus the double SC offers two years in a row.
