I just had a really annoying and odd conversation with frequent flyer customer service.

In February I flew from London to Melbourne. I had booked a premium economy saver fare and requested a classic upgrade that I was granted. What I wasn't expecting when I checked my accounts was that I would earn the flexi-economy rate of points instead of the premium economy rates. Although this is only a few thousand points I don't remember seeing this in anything informing me of this. When I queried it they stated that due to me requesting a classic rewards upgrade, and the fact I was booked a sales ticket (which I told them was wrong, it was a saver ticket), I would only earn points at the flexi economy rate. If I hadn't upgraded I can only assume I would of earned the points at the correct rate. Has anyone else come across this?

I had already complained about this flight as my special meal contained milk products even though I had specifically called and checked that the meal wouldn't contain milk. From this they only gave me a few thousand point compensation after stating that they had found 3 ports which were non-compliant when it came to dairy free products (which I believe is unacceptable from a full service airline). It is the second time I had complained to Qantas about meals being incorrect. At least this time they called me back, which was better then being totally ignored in 2012 when I last complained. Both times this has occurred though staff on the flight have stated I requested the wrong meal. This time though I was prepared with a screen shot of the Qantas meals website and they apologised.

Can't find my ticket type now. E-ticket just says Premium Economy. I know it wasn't flex and wasn't a sales fare. I did check the earn rate when I booked it and based on the class it said that I would earn normal premium economy rates.

I'm not related to DrBob737 as far as I'm aware.

Note that class T (premium economy sale) is classed as flexible economy. However, if you have the e-ticket showing that you are in another booking class, send it in and make a claim for it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My apologies then. Andy probably has your answer on the points.

My partner's (milk intolerance) strategy with meals now to just take the normal meal and not eat any suspect bits. She finds the special meals from lots of outposts pretty inedible anyway.

I'd appreciate an opportunity to look in to this for you. Please send me a private message with your details as reference.

Much better form ...

Could you plug in the booking ref into something like my flights app to get the fare bucket?

Thanks Red Roo. I have tried to PM you but not sure if it has worked as it's not showing in my sent items. Let me know if you don't get it.
