Hello Team,
I see lots of references to Low, High and Shoulder Seasons . Obviously many people have greater airline knowledge than I.
When are the low, high and shoulder seasons to Asia; say Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam?

I am considering my next trip and want to balance
fares with weather.

I don't know when exactly the seasons are, but can share with you some experience that the periods with highest fares/ lowest availability are:
- school holidays
- Dec, late Jan and early Feb due to student traffic leaving Aus at end of University year and returning before the next year
- Chinese new year and easter

During these periods bargains are difficult to find.

more applies to accommodation rather than flights nowadays.
and then according to location - eg. east and west side of thailand have different wet seasons.

while not an absolute indicator, a good guide to air fare seasons can be found via the Qantas website. When you select their 'specials' page, there is a link to show you when the fare is available. There is a little graph that opens up and there will be all sorts of little peaks and troughs. The peaks will be associated with key events. Some other airlines (not all) will have some sort of corresponding price increases at peak travel times which may mirror those of QF.

The Qantas website trick is a good one. For a more complex way of doing something, I use Expertflyer and look at all available fares. The validity of the fares determine the seasons.

I did find this chart which summaries that information:
Seasonality for Qantas Airfares - Interline Reservation Service - Travel for Travel People
As well as:
www.travelclub.com.au/Live/Specials/view.aspx/airfare/qantas-airways/?1257529

However, haven't validated the data from those sites with the information at Expertflyer.
