Hi guys,

With EK coming into Adelaide soon (with a 3 class including F service) what are peoples thoughts about lounges? Obviously the QF lounge is going to be the easy option but I would have thought F and J passengers might expect more than essentially a qantas domestic lounge that's not even air side?

Anyone heard anything?

Sean

Would be good.
Isn't the lounge airside already?

Airside but pre-immigration.

The QC is by far the obvious thing to do.
Otherwise:
1) open a small lounge like the SQ one, maybe adjacent to it (no idea if there's space)
2) arrange to share the SQ lounge, because SQ is morning & afternoon, EK is late night (right?)

Saw the 777 flying overhead yesterday, the tail caught my eye

The downside to the 'new airport' is the lack of facilities airside on Int flights

That is the nature of its design, when no international departures occur the gates revert to domestic gates, which is the majority of the time, especially in the PM.

The original plan for the Adelaide terminal plans had spaces reserved for Airside "international" lounges down on the airbridge/arrivals level with a specific area set aside for Qantas.

QF decided not to pursue it.

There was space for a Qantas, Malaysian & Singapore Lounge side by side - Singapore was the only one to actually implement the lounge.

Just confirming, as I have only ever used the QF lounge in Adelaide, the only other lounges currently are the Virgin lounge (quite small from what I have read) and the SQ mini lounge which is through customs. How big/small is the SQ lounge? and is there space for a QF/EK Int. lounge in the remaining space if they wanted it?

The SQ Lounge is about the same size as the VA Lounge.

It would seat around 60 to 80 people at a guess, but the 4 times I've been there it's only had about 20 people max.

Well qantas have abandoned Adelaide (the three SIN flights per week and Auckland a few years ago), leave EK, MAS, SQ and Cathay as international carriers, three of those code share with QF of course.
all QFF got an email about "enhanced" flights to Asia. I wrote back saying please dont send me emails about how you are enhancing my service as Im QF plat in Adelaide and have no QF international option! Then again with EK alliance and MAS joining One world I have some options. The only option will be the QP pre immigration which sucks really as I have a first class ticket ADL DXB Glasgow mid year. I think QF and EK with MAS and Cathay could be creative and offer a service to their customers. I really dont think it is good enough to just shrug their shoulders and offer a domestic lounge pre immigration to people paying $20,000 for a first class ticket!

Emirates now has daily departures in the evening to Dubai so they may be required to have something airside. Probably no first class on that flight but certainly QP, WP and other members flying after April 1 as its our only international 'Qantas' flight.

I reckon there might be first on those flights :)

I don't believe there is room for another lounge airside, the airlines were consulted at design in a case of use it or lose it, with SQ the only one going for space.

There is first class, I have a ticket :) As for no space, years ago I flew ADL SIN on qantas and it seemed pretty empty post immigration, but I didn't look closely.
