Went to access Mel QC yesterday, showed the little piece of paper which is the boarding pass issued to me from the previous flight using mobile phone
and was pulled up saying "no arrivals access", but he was distracted briefly ,"then said don't worry this time"?

Went through to Business entry ,showed the same boarding pass and again and no access and asks if Im am flying again to today and wants my name and destination.

While this is happening I asked "have the rules changed in the last month as plats have arrival on access the same day" and he said no mumbled something about a grace period awhile ago? interrupts himself
and hands me a normal boarding pass for next flight and in I go.

Latter on I looked up Qantas website and no change to their rules ,so back to the front desk Bus Lounge to show him and says "yes he just got confirmation that I did have access"

I know that if I used my FF card none of this would of happened but thats not the point

Definitely needs following up. Why not submit feedback to Qantas and see how long it takes to get a response?

I have used arrival access at Mel, ADL and Perth (twice) in the last two and a bit weeks without a hassle, two of these times I had a guest.

All times just showed ticket.

Some times you just get a dragon, but most of the time (except QFL, they can be tough) They're pretty good to me. Platinums', can also on arrival, have 2 guests in business lounge, I thought????????

I have also been told the same thing entering the MEL J Lounge. (It was a while ago now) I had just come off a red eye from PER and had that BP in my pocket, the one for my next flight was in my bag and harder to get at. They would not let me in until I showed them the BP for the next flight - I was tired and just gave up before saying something I shouldn't.

When they are bad.......

+ BNE, LHR ... they are everywhere!

Yup! however, once in a while you'll have that beautiful moment where the 'meansome threesome' behind the marble counter, gets overridden by a WP1 or a CL Member who guests your extra plus one. We do have a pretty great QFF community in that regard. We usually seem to have each others back in the QFFP/OW around the world, in my experience.

Most surprised. I've used the arrivals benefit at ADL, SYD and - most recently (about 1 month ago) - MEL: arrived about 8:40pm with my driver delayed, I headed up to the QP just to use the toilet and grab a quick drink. Was asked as I entered whether I was travelling on the PER or the SYD. I responded precisely what I wanted to do and why - was waved in with the usual smile.

Regards,

BD

The whole QF lounge access domestically is a bit of a mess.

Your access can be gained through lots of methods;
Boarding pass
Phone
Qff card
Even nowadays a iWatch!

I have never in hundreds of flights had my QFF card checked domestically (yes I know it's a white card, but all the same)
I normally then get a BP from the J dragons who will check me in etc.

I've got zero doubt that I could get access at any day and any time into a lounge, I reckon with enough bravado and you are golden.

As an example do you think that the lounge staff will borrow your arm to scan your watch? Or for that matter ask you to take your watch off?

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather the above than BA Dragons, who act like they are guarding the Crown Jewels, and even they go so far as to encourage you to go to a lesser lounge. (JFK in particular is notorious)

Arrivals access at LHR?

I've tried internationally and have been refused. It's only domestic AFAIK...

I believe reference was to lounge dragons.

Rules!

A couple of days ago at LHR T3 FCL the agent tried to bump us to the J lounge..

Me - why?

D - you're only gold

Me - take another look at the BP

D - oh, you're travelling F ... you can also use the J lounge

Me - Cheers...book me a shower.

Conpletely different experience at CX lounge in HKG a few months ago.

I was travelling CX in Y with family. I need to guess my wife and 2 kids into F lounge and according to rules on QF website I should be able to. I was told by staff at the counter that QF has incorrect rules on their website. I was ready for a fight and I checked with QF before ai travelled. The staff didn't give me the opportuntiy as she said an error on QF's website should not ruin my travel plans so she will gladly let me in asked me to let her know if there is anything else she could do for me.

Just checked QF website again and they still haven't changed the rules.

Under "International Lounge Access before your flight" Oneworld lounge is included and no mentonong of different treatment.
The description of the child access policy is clear that the rather generous rules are for Qantas operated lounges. If you are going to a CX lounge, you are bound by their policy (and that seems more restrictive, if you follow the Qantas website decription for child access policy for oneWolrd lounges)
