Hi all,

Does anyone have any experiences or understanding of the rules around lounge access upon arrival when flying VA to LAX?

Ideally, I'd like to enjoy a shower after the flight before inflicting LA upon myself.

As always, thanks to all who reply.

Sadly the problem you will face is there is no arrival lounge in LAX for international arriving guests coming from a city that does not have pre clearance.

If you have an onward flight you would be able to access a lounge after going through security for your next flight.

Some airlines do allow you to get a security pass and be able to access the lounge but I don't believe Virgin Australia have this facility (more so for the US carriers).

If you ever come from a city with pre clearance you would also easily be able to access the lounges as you would already be in the terminal. There have been talks of Australia having a US pre clearance facility but so far not much progress in that regard.

I have seen some recommendations of getting a day room at one of the airport hotels or even research a local Gym with single paid entry.

I myself at one stage booked a USD35 AA flight to SLC ... and no-showed (that was when AUD >USD).

Yep. Get a day room. Hilton has check i strictly from 9am, Travelodge is clean and good value.

My preference is the 24 rolling checkin at the four points lax. Budget is across the street and avis is a 10 minute walk to get a car.

I have been looking at day rates for my VA day trip in May. The Hilton day rate is USD110 + taxes. Think they are taking the piss.

In my experience the hilton enforces the checkin time of 9am too. No earlier.

The Travelodge is fine value, it's clean but older. I wouldnt spend the night but its great for a day room. I use their day room on the way home with an 8pm check out.

Wow that's gone up. Used to be around the $80 plus taxes mark for day use!
