Hi AFF,

Since I'm flying J and a WP, would be it okay for me to guest a friend into the J lounge and another in to the F lounge? Technically, I'm entitled to 1 guest as a J pax and another as a WP. Are the dragons going to raise an eyebrow over this?

When I did the SYD QF F and J lounges, they always wanted to scan BP.
This was during my flights to NZ when EK still flew MEL and SYD to AKL/CHC.
SO, its not just the lounge dragon/dragoness that might pick up on your "double" entry, as the system might ping that you have already been into the J lounge, or the F lounge.
Granted I have not tried both, have tried the EK and QF MEL and SYD lounges, all 4 on different trips, but never the same times.
And always, scanning of BP is done.
Maybe others have had lots of time, and have indeed done what yo plan to do.
At SYD F lounge, you pass through a first check, as in a visual at the first frosted door to the F lounge, then at the service desk, they scan your BP.
So its not just a case of you ushering your friend past the frosted door, and then leave them to their own devices.
Best of luck.

The rules are silent on combining of guesting privileges, afaik.

Note there's no problem with you yourself going to both lounges (you can go and come as you please), but they may see a record of already having had one guest enter (and they would know who that was from the boarding pass scan).

You can but try. I'd work out which friend you like most and get them in first though :)

I think you'll be ok but not because you can guest as a business class passenger and as a Platinum.

Say you guest a friend into business lounge and then guest the same friend into First lounge. There is a cost to Qantas for that guest. What does it matter if business lounge guest is different to First lounge guest? Cost exactly the same.

The only time this may be an issue is if someone decides to check how many guests each Platinum has had over a period of time and somehow sees a pattern where Platinums guest different people into each lounge. Not likely.

The exception might be if it is two guests at the same time. That would have an additional cost. (But you could guest 10 people at different times during the day so what's the difference? Except perhaps lounge capacity.)

Guesting multiple people at the same time could be seen as an abuse of benefits, leading to termination of membership (see QFFF terms and conditions). Likely? Probably not. Although it might be a friendly warning.

That would be my strategy but I'd discuss it with all concerned beforehand to allay hissy fits at lounge entrances.

I see this asked on FT occasionally and the general consensus there is that if the party can't get access as a whole then you should all stay outside to remain in one group, especially if it's family members. My response to that would be, "I'm getting my Champagne, Hungry Jacks is down the corridor to the right."

Thanks for the reply everyone. The other friend didn't need lounge access after all. Based on my experience lounge hopping in HKG with CX lounges I thought QF would be okay but it would have been difficult to say!

It is a curious question.

I and 1 eligible guest have come and gone at multiple lounges without an issue many times. So for sure that's allowed. And we have sometimes left the lounge at different times.

At times at MEL, as a WP flying QFi, I have access to up to 5 lounges.

Could I simultaneously guest 1 eligible guest at one lounge and another eligible guest at another lounge?

Probably not?

I'd think that once I left the lounge my guest would/should have to leave too. But I've not yet seen that enforced.
