One of the frustrations of often being in KUL was that I had generally flown QF/BA from SYD to SIN and then made the short hop to KUL and back. No *Alliance status meant no lounge access unless I was willing to pay for it.

I am flying back on JQ *class and wonder if I can access the MArco Polo lounge or do I get access to the generic business lounge that normally costs about MYR80?

Any takers on what the situation would be? Given that QF/CX are OW partners does it extend to the Kanga's little brother?

Although Jet

advertise "After check-in, StarClass passengers have access to the Qantas Club Lounge in Australia and at destination ports where available while waiting for their priority boarding.", I believe flying

Class you'll get Business class lounge access of some form thrown in, whether there's a specific QP or not, as long as a J lounge is available.

Flying out of KIX last month I was given an invitation to the "Asuka Lounge" -there's no QP there.

Thanks, that at least is a qualified yes. It would make sense that it would be MP lounge given that all the others are not affiliated with QF in any way.

I will find out tomorrow night I suppose.

JQ isn't part of oneworld, so I doubt you'd be able to use the Marco Polo Lounge.

To answer your question, JetStar uses a private section of the Plaza Premium lounge in the satellite terminal, shared with one or two other carriers (Lufthansa?). You should receive an invitation at checkin..

Please note that the Cathay Pacific First and Business Class Lounge (singular - there is only one lounge for both F and J passengers) is not called the Marco Polo Club lounge. While Cathay Pacific do invite their Marco Polo Club Silver and higher status members to use the lounge, the lounge is not called the MP lounge. Its just called the Cathay Pacific First and Business Class Lounge. This is an interesting name since CX does not sell F seats ex-KUL.

I also doubt JQ would use the CX lounge. The CX lounge closes after the last CX flight departs at 5:55pm each day, while the JQ flight departs at 7:15pm. So that would require JQ to pay to hold the lounge open for around 90 mins. It would be more feasible to expect JQ to pay to use the Plaza Business Lounge at KUL. This is the lounge to which CX passengers were redirected in December when the CX lounge has suffered water damage due to a leaky roof.

And of course the CX lounge can get quite full prior to the evening CX departure for HKG, so not much spare room for JQ early check-in customers.

Maybe JL specifically pay to have the lounge opened for their flight. The later CX flights are codeshares operated by MH and I expect passengers would be allowed to use the MH lounge (which is much better anyway).

Plaza Premium Lounge it was. Carlsberg beer on tap and a rotating hot selection of east/west dishes. It is the ante-room to the larger section of the PPL but was OK in at least being a place where you could relax before the flight.

I had seat 1A on JQ which was fine because there wasn't a 1B.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Interestingly, I find the space in front of 1A (& 1K) slightly less that the rest of the StarClass cabin as the fuselage begins to narrow toward the front.

IMHO - Best seat 2D, second best 1E (if under 190 CM tall).
