We are travelling AKL BNE (VA) LAX MCO (VA on DL) MCO LAX (VA on VX) BNE AKL(VA).

We booked premium economy seats, then found that the US domestic flights are only economy, and now find that we can only access NZ Koru lounge for the trans tansman flights.

No lounge access in BNE prior to BNE LAX or in LAX prior to LAX BNE flights

Other than extra baggage allowance and PE seats trans Tasman and Pacific, I am wondering what we paid the extra fares for!

These conditions were never pointed out to us - had to book with Flight Centre to get the fare (should have known better)

Anyway, my question is - Is there anyway we can get/pay for lounge access in BNE (prior BNE LAX) and LAX?

There are 5 of us including elderly gran ( the reason for booking PE - supposedly to make travel easier for her.)

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Dare I say it, you paid extra fares for the extra leg room the flights with PE. I would have said that's the most important part of a PE booking.

Matt

The PE seats will be worth it. You should be able to pay for lounge access in LAX at the reLAX lounge (or free if you have a Diners Club card).

You paid for the extra legroom and slightly better service.

Sorry, but as much I'm not a fan of FC or their service, it's not your TA's job to know where or when you'll have lounge access and to which lounges. (Sure it's nice if they do and a travel specialist will usually have a fairly good idea, but then you're never going to find someone like that working for a budget agency like FC.)

As for the fare, very much doubt you had to book at FC, they may have given you that perception but there's few if any fares that are limited to one agency group.

At the end of the day, with a chain like FC it's worth remembering the old adage, 'Price is what you pay, value is what you get.'

PS. enjoy the Y+, it's definitely worth the premium over Y

I agree with this - no offence but if lounge access was important to you you should have asked your TA if it was included when booking.

I can't think of any airline that offers lounge access with long-haul Y+?

We did 5 pax last November PE out of BNE with VA. We only got lounge access in Koru lounge because of our status, not because of the PE fares. I can tell you, the lounge is small compared to others and if you are thinking of the paying the fee for access, it will really depend on how many people you need to pay for. I recently visited this lounge at 5am for early flight to New Zealand, and it was fine, no one in the lounge, but that was because of time of day. If lounge access was a booking consideration, maybe the extra cost for exit row and extra cost for lounge would have seen a much lower fare price.
